2$ can at JR's. Pours crystal clear pale. Foamy head fades to pond scum. Somewhat sweet cream corn nose, similar to many macro lagers. Much less hoppy than an india pale lager. However, it does have some kindah rude pointed phenolic bitterness lurking in there. Reminds me a bit of a rookie brewer not yet getting his brewing technique figgered out. Getting a little rude towards the middle. Yes, that near nasty phenolic astringent bite keeps building during the session. Not really sure if this qualifies as a pilsner. Just curious if Penn actually tried this out in a pilot batch before they brewed tons and then had to package and sell it as to not take a loss on it. On the session closure, was hoping to find something a little more civilized, more like the character and quality in the vein of their other brews. Maybe if they juiced up the carbonation a lot, it would have kept my mind off that sharp rookie quality. I think this is not going to be one of their finer moments. There, you have it, JMHO.

Golden with a medium sized white head that left good lacing. Sharp perfumey hops and not much else going on. Long finish. Medium body.

Can from a penn brewing 12 count variety pack for $11, about a buck each. Pour is cloudy dirty pale, with a slight orange light brown tint. No head. Nose is very light spice. First taste is certainly pear, then that is backed up with some cinnamon and a little orange peel. I'm usually turned off with holiday spiced brews but this stuff is not as in yer face with the spice. Yes, its there, and you can't miss it, but its seems to be better balanced than most spiced bombs. Also has a good level of co2 to help out with the cinnamon and orange peel dissipation. Not overly sweet. Alky is certainly present for a 6% brew and sometimes I think I'm getting some shades of aged merikan malt likkah in there near the finish. Overall was hoping for something a little more refreshing and civilized, but its ok by me.
