Bouteille 650ml, courtoisie de Hogtownharry. De couleur noire et opaque. Nez de malt rôti et de café, légèrement fruité (prunes, notes de raisins vineux) et léger de chocolat au lait, de crème (notes lactiques) et de houblon terreux et herbeux ainsi que des notes de chocolat noir, d’alcool, de fumée (tabac), de vanille et de réglisse noire. Moyennement ronde en bouche avec un pétillement moyen et une texture crémeuse aux petites notes huileuses. Goût moyennement fruité (prunes, notes de raisins vineux et de cerises noires) et de vanille, léger de chocolat au lait, de crème (légèrement lactique) et de fumée de tabac ainsi que des petites notes de réglisse noire lors de l’entrée en bouche auquel se rajoute rapidement un goût plutôt amer de malt rôti-brûlé, léger de chocolat noir (notes de caramel toffee sucré) parallèlement à un léger goût d’alcool aux notes réchauffantes et à un goût de café noir (qui progresse tout au long de la gorgée) puis en finale l’on retrouve un goût amérisant de houblon herbeux et aux notes florales et terreuses. Post-goût long et un peu sec, amer de rôti, de café, de houblon herbeux aux notes terreuses ainsi que des notes de chocolat, de tabac, de vanille, d’alcool et de fruits (pelures de prunes, traces de raisins vineux).

Pours dark gold into a tumbler. Off-white head quickly subsides to skim surface. Coriander and alcohol aromas. Sweet caramel upfront which quickly turns sour into a lasting bitter finish. Sour/bitter/alcohol lasts quite a while. Alcohol is definitely tasted and felt.

Pale golden coloured body with a very thin white head. Aroma of curacao, corn, wheat, yeast and a bit of fresh hops. Light to Medium-bodied; Strong malty flavour up front with some hoppy tastes and yeast right behind. Aftertaste shows the malt and wheat nicely, but a bit too much alcohol. Overall, a decent attempt at a white, but not great. I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased at K&E Discount Beverage in New Paltz, New York on 19-May-2007 on the Eastern Shore of Virginia.

Wow, I’m very pleased with the initial burst of aroma on this - its British ale all the way. There’s a caramelized malt, but its fruity in a persimonny peachy kind of way, and then there’s hops galore. Slightly grassy, like new mown hay, but intermeshed with grapefruit rind. Nice ruby red color with a rocky beige head. Flavor is well rounded up front, full on crystal malt heaviness. This is quickly followed up by a peppery spicy hoppiness. Pretty tingly on the tongue with hop resins, it finishes with a big bold bitterness but somehow balanced with the ever-present big fat crystal malts. There’s a touch of a strong hot alcohol linger in the chest and throat. A bit over the top in the big picture.

Bottled. An amber beer with a lazing thin beige head. The aroma is sweet with a lovely hoppy and grassy notes which also includes notes of grapefruit. The flavor is sweet malty eith notes of grapefruit and grass, leading to a dry and very bitter end.

Clear deep brown coloured body with ruby highlights and a nice tan head. Aroma of roaste malt, nuts, caramel, toffee, nutmeg and a light dose of hops. Medium-bodied; Strong nuttiness up front with some malt and light spice behind .Aftertaste shows some nuts, nutmeg, roastie malt flavours and a bit of alcohol. Overall, not such a great beer and not a great scotch in my mind...it lacks a lot of complexity, flavour and of course - originality. I sampled this 65 cL bottle purchased from K&E Discount Beverage in New Paltz, New York on 02-May-2007.

(Bottle 65 cl) Courtesy of Kramer 17801. Clear, pale amber golden with a nice, off-white head. Fresh aroma of citrus and pine. Quite full-bodied with sweetish malt which is completely overpowered by the piney aroma hops also leaving a solid bitterness. 290407

Sample from bottle at Ølbaren. Pours orange with white head. Aroma is fresh’ n’fruity. Mouthfeel is creamy. Taste is dry and fruity hops aroma. Ends dry.

Pours jet black into a snifter. Brown micro head conglomerates and leaves spider lacing as it slowly recedes. Mild cocoa aromas. Slightly sour espresso and full upfront with with a lasting baker’s chocolate, pit fruit and tobacco finish.
