Draught from ginger manhattan. Poured dark without too much head (tannish that was there). Some maltiness etc. Thought it was more of a sweet stout than a dry one.

Notes from May 2011 Dusted off the grill last night & that lingering soot under my nails got me all worked up again. Bottle from New Beer about two months ago. No batch or BO/BB date. Rounded pint glass pour. Hard pour down the middle. Not quite black body with a velvet-like inch of oatmeal-colored head that doesn't linger long. Smell is chocolate wafers, coffee creamer, & some out of place fruity pith. Taste is soot, iced coffee, & some barky bitterness in the back. Touch salty. Disappointing smoke. This product seemed way more meatier in the initial batches. This is just sooty. There's also a fruity tang that is much more apparent when cold then cool. That wasn't there in the any previous bottles I've had. It could just be the wood the brewer is using to smoke his malt, but it's pretty apparent. There have been infection issues in the past. Thin & well carbonated(which is/was also an issue). Hoping for better consistency in future bottles. Also hoping the ones I traded away were drank sooner rather then later.

12oz can I got from the Brew cafe, pours a clear gold, oily looking. Green hop and soap on the nose, yeasty esters. Flavor is apple, grist, oily hop but just doesn't give. Dry at least.

12oz can is the most full can you've ever seen. Right to the fucking tab. Nose is honey and grist and some herbs. Flavor is simple, grain and dough and some honey. Finishes with a little plastic on the end, otherwise doughy and lightly sweet. 6 4 5 2 10

Can pour at the April DC Ratebeer tasting. Poured a mostly clear yellow color with a small golden tinge. Aroma was some light earthy hops, bitterness. Light pepper. Bitter.

12oz can I bought at the brewery. Clear gold, white head faded fast. Worth noting, all the cans felt like low pours. Nose has some cheap malt, a little potpourri. Lemony. Bitter. Malt. 6 2 6 3 10
