Bottle @ Stephen’s house. Pours a deep brown appearance with an almost nonexistent head. Twangy, brown sugar, toffee, caramel, dark chocolate, light whiskey aroma. Little to no carbonation. Pretty sweet and heavy. Lots of candy, burnt sugar, chocolate, and caramel. Some booze on the back end. Could be a decent beer but the carbonation sucks.

Sample at Great Taste of the Midwest on 08/09/2014: Slightly hazy orange color with a medium white head that diminishes steadily to a dense film. Sticky top ring of lacing with spots underneath. Aroma of herbal hops, fruit and malt. Light-bodied with flavors of hops, mildly spicy rye and malt. The finish is mildly bitter with a grassy hops aftertaste. Decent overall.

750mL shared by my good friends. Bottled in March 2013. Poured into a Southern Tier tulip glass. Pour is very dark brown, cannot see through it. Aroma is sooooooooio infected. So lets just forget that this supposed to be a Scotch Ale, its a sour ale. Acetic strong on the nose not crazy though. Flavor is smaller but some actual Scotch Ale underneath that. Heck I was happy that its a drinkable mistake.

Bottle @ Vail, courtesy of jcnielsen. Thanks bro! Pours a murky brown appearance with a light brown head. Kind of spicy boozy, caramel, very oaky, tannic aroma. Boozy, huge oaky, grainy woody, vanilla, caramel, dry herbal flavor. Way too much oak. Strangely enough not that much whiskey.

Bottle @ Vail, courtesy of jcnielsen. Thanks! Pours a hazy reddish orange appearance with a tan head. Big juniper spicy, lemon zesty, lemon-lime, spritzy aroma. Kind of juicy carbonated, juniper, lime, dry, lightly tart flavor. Kind of bizarre but not all that bad.
