Draft at Taps Beer Bar, Kuala Lumpur. Poured a clear dark amber with a thin white head and a little broken lace. The aroma is sweet sticky treacle toffee malt light yeast. The flavour is moderate sweet with a sweet, light smoky malt, floral alcoholic bitter palate and a lingering bitter sweet finish. Medium bodied with average carbonation. More like a barley wine than a smoked ale. The smoke was barely detectable.

Bottle from new Craftissimo at home. Slightly hazy golden blonde pour with plush foamy head. Aroma is Belgian-y, with apple, pepper, spice. Is this a Pilsner? More like a light saison. Taste too. Slightly hoppy and crisp but mostly saison/Belgian flavors. Still light and fresh though. Not sure it would be a great pair for Indian curry (as it says on the label). Wouldn't get again.

The flavour is moderate bitter with a dry, crisp yeasty, light floral citrus palate. Medium bodied with average carbonation. I’m sure it’s a fine beer to accompany a curry, but then again, so is water.

The flavour is smoky malt bitter with a smooth, light roasty, burnt toffee palate. Medium bodied with soft carbonation.

The flavour is light sweet with a light, slightly watery grapefruit citrus palate. Light bodied with average carbonation. Rather nice as far as ciders go and a lot less sweet than I expected.

The flavour is moderate bitter, light sweet with a smooth roasty, vinous, light coffee, molasses, alcoholic bitter palate. Full bodied with flat carbonation.

On tap at Pomeroy’s, Christchurch. Pours, guess what, pitch black! Typical dense stout head, medium size. Smoky, but not too much. Liquorice, but not too much. Good beer.

Bottle. Toasty caramel malt and light smoky aroma. Hazy russet with a small off-white head. Ashy smoke and toasty malt flavor with a roasty bitter finish. Body on the light side of medium, moderate carbonation.

Pours garnet, with a light pink head. Tart berry, wheat aroma. Dry, tart, boysenberry flavour. Not exactly a favourite taste, but pretty well done. Smooth, tart, solid.
