Bottled, this version is made for Haus der 131 Biere, and most likely has nothing to do with the real Ginga Kogen Stout. Dark brown, dish water head. Unclean, acidic metallic nose. Sweet with piss poor malt structure and strong, sharp rusty metallic flavour. Had I known it was a Haus der 131 Biere and not a real beer I would never have bought it. This company is absolutely disgraceful in their labelling and marketing, which leads you to believe that you are buying an exotic import from a reknown microbrewery, when you're really buying local cheaply made crap sold for 5 times the price of a good beer.

The aroma is sweet and malty with a weird slightly smoked coffee note. The color is red-brown and it has a small fast disappearing head. The flavor is a very weird sweetness with a somewhat sour note. There is no hints of smoke nor roasted malt - so in my universe this can't be a stout. It is rather thin in the middle. A very weird "beer" - that I cannot recommend.

Sour- and bitterness in the aroma. Mostly brown color with creamy head. Sour like milk just before it goes bad. Medium body . I wonder if "stout" has a different meaning in Japan?

I listed this as a brown ale because quite frankly that's what it is. There really isn't any roast to speak of, and the body is quite light. There are some malty, walnutty, caramel flavours.
