Draft at Bel-Aire, recommended by Ray, thank you sir! Nice variegated amber brown color, small beige head with good retention. Aroma of lightly toasted caramel and nuts. Taste is sweet and malty with a bit of roasted nuts. Very nice.

Bottled. An amber beer with a thin beige head. The aroma has notes of malt and caramel as well as lighter notes of pumpernicle bread, alcohol, and honey. The flavor is sweet with notes of cardboard, dusty hops, caramel, and alcohol, that makes its mark felt on the tongue. The finish contains a bit of strored fruit. Thanks Papsoe for sharing.

Bottle, shared by papsoe. It pours an amber, clear body with a decent beige head. Malty nose with caramel and beefstock. The flavor is on the malty side too, with a little fruity touch. Caramel, beefstock and some roasted notes. Caramel-malty finish. Medium body with a pleasant cabonation. Far from my favorite doppelbock, but a decent beer. (080822)

12 fl oz bottle. Pours clear and golden hazzlenut brown with a lacing off-white head. Barley and malty roasted aroma. Sweet flavour of barley, caramel and mild breadish. Lingering malty and slight breadish. Light alcohol presence and warmth into the finish.

(Bottle 33 cl) Slightly hazy golden with a small, rough, white head - gee, some of these Nelson Bays beers really look like crap. Weird aroma of prunes. Medium body with lightly floral notes and a rather flat carbonation. Underlying sweetness. Rather messy and confusing, doesn’t appear very fresh. 200208

(Bottle 33 cl) Pours a hazy, greyish golden with a small, rough head. Aroma of fruit and flowers. Medium-bodied with fairly sweet malts. Low in carbonation - almost a little flat - and a basically absent bitterness. Isn’t this completely fresh? Bought at the brewery though - from the brewer! Not ugly as such, just not really a Pilsener. 200208
