Description
In 1961 Tetley Walker, Ind Coope and Ansells merged to form Allied Breweries, which became the world's largest brewing conglomerate. In 1979 Allied Breweries merged with Lyon's Foods to form Allied Lyons, who merged with Carlsberg in 1992.

In 2011 the Brewery in Leeds closed and was sold for redevelopment.

Some beers remain being brewed by Carlsberg.

Any beers from before the initial merger in 1961 should be listed separately.

Clear pale blond colour with thin head. Aroma has light pale malts. Flavour has something of sweet peas / overboiled vegetables. Light cereal note. Not very good.

Can. Sweetish, grainy aroma. Sweetish flavor, fizzy with some caramel. Slight bitter aftertaste. Drinkable, but not worth a retry.

Cask. Malty, syrupy aroma. Thin and a bit watery. Firm licorice flavor. Some toasty bitterness. Hardly any lacing. Deep ruby brown color. Traces of a head. Hardly any sweetness. Well made mild.

Cask: Dove & Olive Branche, Grasmere. Late summer 2004. Amber color, lasting creamy head. Hoppy seaweed aroma. Sweetish, malty flavor with some butterscotch and still a fair deal of hops. Grassy, seaweed finish. Much better as I expected.

Reddish copper with a thick white head. Bread, lightly sweet, malty, earth. Full smooth body. Easy.

Bottle from Asda. Golden in colour, with a small, white, head. Thin, slightly fruity beer, with some wheaty malts and a moderately bitter finish. So so.

Bottle from Asda. Golden in colour, with a thin head and plenty of carbonation. Citrus notes, a touch of floral hop, sweetish malts with a yeasty edge, leading to a moderately bitter finish. Fine.

Cask at Travellers Rest, Cockerton as Tetleys Original Cask. Orangey golden colour, white foam head leaving some lacing and sour malty aroma. Taste is mash malty, toffee, grainy with some fruity bitterness. Light bodied, soft carbonation, dry mashy finish. OK
