Description

3 February 2019. At Brugs Bierfestival. Cheers to Anke & Pieter! Hazy dark red-brown with a lasting, thin, frothy, tan head; little lacing. Deep aroma of blue plum, raisin, red grape, red jam, fruit cake, port wine, walnut, cookie dough, milk chocolate, vanilla. Taste is medium fruity sweet, lots of plum, raisin, red jam almost, stuffed into a cake; light sourness provided by faint cherry & blackcurrant, woody bitter touch points towards vanilla & chocolate, some nuts too. Dryish, herbal hoppy finish, lingering red fruit, vanilla, sweet dough & warming port-like alcohol. Medium body, creamy texture, fizzy carbonation. Very well balanced, very enjoyable.

2 February 2019. At Brugs Bierfestival. Cheers to tderoeck, 77ships, Rubin77, Jerre, Kevin & Anke! Hazy red with a lasting, slowly thinning, foamy, pinkish head; some lacing. Aroma of red fruit jam, red sorbet, wood, sour cherry, lemon peel, yeast, unripe banana. Taste is light fruity sour, notes of cherry & jam; light to medium woody bitter, a bit wheaty & yeasty with a weird grainy touch, sweetish green banana too. Dry, grainy & yeasty finish, some wood & cherry jam. Medium body, fluffy texture, flat carbonation. Weird notes in here, needs some polishing.

Pretty cloudy red brown beer, creamy off-white head, very stable, adhesive, leaving some lacing in the glass. Aroma: some banana, malty, grains, yeast, one would not suspect any red fruits in here… MF: ok carbon, medium body. Taste: pretty sourish start, little hoppy, malts, banana yeast. Weird, was expecting a fruit beer with a name like that. I guess this is definitely better, but it's not a really good beer per se.

FINALLY this beer is available in Belgium as well! It was made only once or twice before (2011 and 2014?), and only on draft in the Netherlands... Been wanting to complete my series of Malheur beers for years now.

Clear dark brown beer, small creamy irregular beige head, pretty stable, non adhesive. Aroma: bit malty, some banana, caramel, grains, hay. MF: ok carbon, medium body. Taste: bit sweet, sugary, some ripe banana, yeast, little bitterness, caramel, actually pretty nice. Aftertaste: bitter touch, some dark chocolate, malty, bit of caramel.
