Description
We’re proud to be a small, independent, family-owned business. Our founders Hamish Coates, Mel Holland and Colin Coates have stayed true to this for the entire life of the business.
With no outside investment or intervention, we make decisions based on what’s best for our staff, for our brewery and for the future of our planet.
This means that when it comes to doing the right thing, there are no shareholders or investors to answer to – we can just do it.
We are 100% independent, 100% family owned, and 100% of arguments are won by Ace – the dog!
Our farm and brewery take their name from a natural outcrop of ironstone that runs through the centre of our farm; “Rocky Ridge” perfectly sums up our slice of paradise and ironically sums up the somewhat rocky road that we are on as well.

Can, 11C - don't know whether this was right - perhaps colder? Black. A light tan head is soon a rim and island. Aroma is indeed of ginger nuts and some orange with light roast and licorice peeking out from behind. Rather thin. Plainly sweet. There isn't enough stout to stand up to the ginger, but the ginger itself is nice. Lacks much of a finish.

Can. Deep black, flat and thin. Cough medicine nose. Cherry and ginger abounds. Fun but not astounding.

Can, Recipe V2.0. Just hazy gold with a large white head that fades fairly quickly. Aroma of pithy citrus, some biscuit, mango, pineapple. 7+ Assertive getting towards burning fruity hops and not a lot else. Not a patch on normal Ace.

Can, 4.6%. Clear pale gold with a white head. Aroma of passionfruit and grapefruit, crackers. Light bodied, really quite fizzy. Only a little sweetness with passionfruit and some citrus before a dry and slightly spicy finish that's tidily bitter. A pleasant dust cutter.

Can. Translucent gold with a cm of white head. Aroma of kumquat, peppery pine, crusty bread. 7+ Just medium bodied. Soft, a little dirty. Some mandarin as well as kumquat - they float above the malt flavours until peppery and slightly resinous bitterness ties things up. Cheery if a mite unpolished.

Can Very dark brown. A tan head is very soon at the rim, 3- Aroma of milky chocolate, Shiraz, oak, some caramel syrup. No whiff of booze at all. Only fullish bodied. Pleasantly low carbonation. Sweet with milky chocolate, Shiraz, sweet berries, oak. Little roasted underpinning. Seems like no real finish but the somewhat peppery oak creeps up. Not enough presence for its strength. In particular I wanted more stout.

Tap at 3rd Culture Brewing Co, Maxwell Food Court, Singapore. Poured a clear dark brown colour with a frothy off white head and some clingy lace. The aroma is roasty malt, red berry fruits, vanilla, lactose. The flavour is moderate sweet, a smooth, rich, oily, sweet sugary, light spicy, vanilla palate. Medium to full bodied with soft carbonation. Just as it says on tje tin.

Can. Deep brown. Ash aroma with some caramel. Toasted malt with loads of piney bitterness. Some alcohol burn, and a lingering smokiness, all good things.

Can. Follows two trends: i) dog on can (fine); ii) calling a >6% highly hopped beer a pale ale (tedious). Almost clear gold with a loose white head that lasts well. Aroma of orange, lychee, nectarine, passionfruit, crackers. Reminds me of Moo Brew Enigma a fair bit. But it's bigger and quite gutsy with bread crust, grapefruit, kumquat, grass and resin. Clean with strong bitterness at the end. Excellent.
