On tap at Yellow Ape Craft. 5.4% 90 IBU A pale gold with a foamy white head reminds me of Italian IPAs. A nice fruity-floral hop bouquet with a soft body, round carbonation. The taste is fruity, then pithy with green bitter pine. Clean tasting, vibrant and light but with a solid hop punch. Yum.

6 To Go on tap at Craft Beer Base 3.8% It pours like a creamy stout with a thick light beige head on a pitch black body. The nose is bready pithy orange mixed with light coffee & acrid black patent malts. Med-light bodied which at 3.8% is no surprise. The taste is tangy bitter dark malts with a spritz of lemon. It’s an easy drinking session beer but I was expecting more, I’d guess it was served too cold but I gave it ample time to warm up. Maybe the contrast with the more flavorful Baird x Great Leap Blind Monk I was drinking side by side made this seem tame by comparison though it was a way better looking beer. It grows on you as you sip it but it is not Ushi-tora’s best.

Tap at Dig. Lovely nose or lemon and licorice. Pitch black, cloudy, with lace. Roasty chocolate flavor, coffee, nice citrus, licorice, wood. Medium-strong bitterness. Light and a bit thin, but good flavor for 3.8%. Though got kind of lacking after a while.

On tap at Dig’s Tochigi Beer Week. Ushitora 7 to Go 5% light Scotch Ale A cloudy mahoganey brown. Nutty light caramel more woody bitter than sweet in the mouth. The nose is incredibly light. A bit salty caramel & malty decent but on the low end for other Ushitora beers.

On tap at Dig Bar. 8 to go A cloudy light gold with a filmy white head. A big citrus/tropical fruit nose - shelwarsa? Light bodied a bit silky or viscous. The taste is a touch pithy citrus, fruit juice & a light crisp bitterness with some honey. Deceptively complex. Alright. Very drinkable.

Tap at Kamikaze. Blowing, cloudy, bright gold. Very lemony nose, rich citrus fruits, plus a bit of tropical. Huge fruit flavor, shikwasa all the way, rather shocking citrus juice flavor. A good summer beer, but the fruit is a bit too much.

Tap at Kamikaze, listed as 3%. Muddy brown with lace. Rather unappetizing. Malty nose, chocolate, caramel, a bit faint. Very rich caramel and toffee flavor, great body, light but full and rich. Clean, with a solidly bitter finish. Though it gets a bit harsh with time. Hard to believe a 3% beer has this body. Maybe it is 5.

Small glass on draft at Ushi-Tora. Hazy golden yellow with off-white head. Aromas of citrus, floral, herbs. Tastes of lemon peel, citrus, floral, light wheat. Medium-light body with a dry finish.
