Cool sunny weather with a refreshing breeze meant I headed out to enjoy the sunshine before the rain returns. This is the latest beer in the series: Two Rabbits Cherry Sour 5.5% Salmon pink-orange with a lightly pinkish white foam and a tart Cherry aroma with bready flaky malt undertones. Medium bodied with a sweetly tart Cherry flavor, not complex but banging on point lightly tart cherry but still definitely beer like. This is very drinkable and has me wishing I had some Cherry pie to go with it.
Two Rabbits Strawberry Sour 5.5% Orange gold or is gold with pink highlights that make it look orange? The foam has a pink tinge and the beer’s bouquet is jammy strawberry with some toe jam funk. Medium bodied and very tart strawberry up front with big jammy notes in the aftertaste/ finish. I paired this with strawberry shortcake. The shortcake refocused things on the sour elements. I’ve gotta say this may be the best sour I’ve had from them. I had no idea this had come out two years ago, the 2022 version tastes banging.
Two Rabbits A River Somewhere Nelson Sauvin & Meridian IPA 6.5% Matte orange gold with off-white foam. nice fruit notes with a woodsy forest element. Pretty full bodied with a raspy carbonation. The taste matches the nose but adds a few flashes of herbal minty flavor. Fun stuff, great place to chill by the River too bad it started to rain.
My mind thought that was Crocodile Dundee on the label when I glanced at it in the fridge! Two Rabbits Billabong Brown Ale 6% Reddish Brown with a tan head and peppery biscuity aroma. Medium bodied and smooth. Nice brown ale with peppery notes, biscuit, toffee and hints of tobacco leaf. Good stuff.
The other collaboration in this series: Two Rabbits x Taneya Craft Beer Green Tea and Rice 5% Very pale straw gold with a de de. Right white topping of foam. The aroma is very lager like with a floral herbal element from the green tea over a pale rice/malt base. Medium to light bodied and crisp. Initially you get the grains and beer elements but the green tea comes through in the aftertaste. It hits the spot. The coffee ale collab was maybe the more exiting of the two though. Both are worth trying but I think hard to find now outside of Taneya or Club Harie shops. Edited to correct this is a Taneya not club harbor collab.
First up: Two Rabbits Seven Rabbits BA Farmhouse Ale 8% Lovely orange gold with thick light beige foam and a malty sweet aroma with orange, oak and whiskey notes. Full bodied and velvety smooth - it has a really soft mouthfeel I enjoy. The taste is big barrel character with loads of malt notes to mellow it out. When I hear farmhouse I think spicy/estery flavors/aromas which I’m not getting. This is a really nice beer that clearly says I’m barrel aged but is still soft and approachable. Fantastic label as well.
Two Rabbits Slice of Heaven Kohatu & Wakatu IPL 6% Lovely orange gold with a thick foamy off white top that didn’t last. Soft subtle aroma, the taste on a medium body with round carbonation was the same. Very crisp, clean and drinkable. These are hops I’m not so familiar with but I got the feeling they really do amazing things when paired with food or other hops but on their own they are more subtle and quiet. Delicious beer. I much prefer an IPL to a cold IPA.
Two Rabbits Kiwi IPA 6.5% Orange gold with thick beige foam and very aromatic New Zealand hop bouquet. Medium bodied and slickly smooth. I get orange marmalade and apricot notes then zesty bark with a spritz of lemon. Really quaffable stuff.
