Description
We started Carbon Brews in 2018. Since day one, we have been an employee’s-driven brewery that continues to push the boundaries with our innovative beers. Our goal is to use our creative brews to bring excitement to the Hong Kong beer drinkers which they can share with their friends. Our brewery is located in the city’s industrial area Fo Tan (“Tan” is the Cantonese character for “carbon”!) where all of our employees collaboratively develop and brew ground breaking recipes with our 30HL brewhouse.

330ml can from the Beer Bank, Kuala Lumpur City Centre. Poured a murky reddish amber colour with a short-lived, frothy white head and plenty of bubbles. The aroma is yeasty, mineral, metallic. The flavour is moderate sour, light sweet, with a light, crisp, tart apple, light sweet toffee caramel, light cinnamon Christmas spice palate. Medium bodied with average carbonation.

Mild WC pils, some creaminess from the sorachi, which ends up seeming a bit talus like to me. Round.

Tall bottle at home from Owlsome. Opaque black pour with dark brown edges and barely any head/carbonation. Aroma is rich dark chocolate and cinnamon. A bit like a xocoveza without the chili. Taste is similar, with more creaminess to round it out. Strong alcohol almost plays chili role, but cinnamon flavor from amburana I assume is not my favorite. Palate is rich and just on edge of chalky but not. Very good just not my preferred type.

330ml can at Taps Beer Bar, Changkat, Kuala Lumpur. Poured a mostly clear dark brown colour with a short-lived, frothy off-white head. The aroma is roasted malt, caramel, light coffee. The flavour is moderate liqourice bitter, with a somewhat smooth, roasty, dry coffee ashtray, light sweet caramel, liqourice bitter palate. Medium bodied with average to soft carbonation.

Grassy lightly earthy, floral saison. Not as dry as I’d expect, lingering floral notes, slightly phenolic
