Description
Exit Brewing fell from the minds of two Melbournians, who decided to exit their corporate I.T. jobs and follow their passion for brewing beer. Now the family-owned business is led by founder and brewer, Grum Knight, and offers an iconic core range that keeps true to the founding principles of quality and honesty. Our story began with the release of a Saison farmhouse ale back in 2014. Since then, we have added a few more of our favourite styles including a bold yet balanced Pale Ale, the complex American-style AIBA trophy winning Amber Ale, the rich smooth AIBA trophy winning Milk Stout and a hoppy West Coast-style IPA. These year-round releases are complemented by our limited release program that pays homage to our original numbered batches. We’re a fully independent brewery located in Melbourne’s South East, with a small but mighty team of incredible people who continually strive to keep ‘craft’ at the heart of what we do.

Aromas of chocolate caramel and citrus. A nice coffee and toast finish in the mouth. A lot gutsier then a lot of milk stouts.

From a 375ml can on 11/7/2022. Pours a deepest brown with a small head. Has a strong nose of campfire ash, with hints of bacon. Tastes medium sweet with a good dash of chocolate with masses more ash and burnt bacon. Very much a rauchbier in style, but also stoutish, with mild hints of a dessert brew. Has a thick mouthfeel and moderate carbonation. A truly cracking smoky impy.

Can. Pretty much black with a fat dense tan coat. Lazing smokey aroma with caramel, seaweed, roast, bread. A little De Molenesque. Smoked and bready but much less bold in the taste with some roast and gradually building bitterness. Pretty good but I wanted some combination of drier/ more bitter/ firmer roast.

More an old school WCIPA than a NEIPA. Heaps of citrus and pine dominate in the mouth. There's some aromas of vanilla and tropical fruit, but it doesn't shine through. A creamy mouthfeel, but a bit short. A satisfying WC flavour, but not when you were expecting a NEIPA. I'm not sure what to make of this one. Don't hate it, don't love it.
