Bottle. Dark amber. Just a thin head. The aroma is sort of heavy and boozy, and honestly more bourbon than tequila. The ingredient list sort of explains this - it's got the barrel but it's not a tequila barrel. There's just some tequila added. Which makes the label misleading as it implies a tequila oak barrel. Now at this point I'm not sure what to make of it. The tequila adds little to nothing here. The barley wine is a big, chewy old school barley wine, devoid of elegance, and then the wood is really harsh over top of that. These elements shouldn't clash but yet it does give me that trainwrecky sort of vibe. Powerful donkey kick of alcohol in the finish isn't out of place, but it doesn't make the beer better either.

Can from The Gull, North Vancouver
Cloudy blond colour, turns out being darker than most Hazies. Some aroma of citrus peel, but too mild. There is a bit of spice with the malt, that could be the yeast; the hops are not particularly bright, there's some bitter orange; unfortunately, it ends wwith a high level of pithy bitterness.
Nothing spectacular here, but it may be drinkable, with food.

473mL can, pours a hazy golden with a small white head. Nose brings out plenty of fruity peaches, with light salt, a little coriander, and a little lacto. Flavour is quite salty, with lots of lacto, heavy saltiness, and subtly tart peaches. Very salty and yogurty. It's alright.

Cooked candied orange. Tastes like candied orange with none of the adjuncts it claims.

650 ml bottle. Pours clear amber with light head. Aromas of pineapple, fruit gummies, piney hops, and toasted malts. Flavors follow same with emphasis on fruit and more pine. A little spicy. A little dank. Grassy finish. Very nice

Bottle from The Gull, Vancouver
Amber colour, deep, bright. Weird smell, armpit, BO, glue, marzipan, rubber, toffee. Lean, moderately sweet, full bodied; strong caramel flavour, oak, no tequila, strong alcohol burn.
Very weird.

Poured from 650mL bottle (2020 vintage). Light copper with small white head. Oak, mild vanilla and caramel malt, hint of tequila. Very meh.

22oz (thx(?), Alex!) @ Ryan's. Appearance: a bit hazy copper with a white head. Aroma: a bit sweet, fruity, some non-pleasant caramel notes. Taste: oh god, lots of that strange caramel, very bitter, some booze. Overall: harsh mess.

650mL bottle, pours a clear copper golden with a small white head. Aroma doesn't smell great, revealing vanilla, oak, and I guess subtle tequila. Flavour has a lot of oak chips, alcohol and vanilla. I don't get any tequila. There's little or complexity, and lots of harsh alcohol and fumes. Not terrible, but it's puzzling what the hell they were aiming for here. Incompetent.

Good deep ruby body, slight brown hue, nice foam and good carbonation. Nice tangy raspberry aroma, subtle lime, saccharine. Flavour is a soft raspberry balanced by some grain, maybe soft lime. Full finish, grain lingers. I'm not detecting much pilsner in this but am enjoying it nonetheless.
