On tap at Holy City, pours a watery brown with some spitty, white head. Nose has maple bacon, cheap bacon though, almost like my wife’s bacon chapstick, some cheap brown sugar, some chocolate too. Flavor has more sweetness, candy and brown sugar, some off brand tootsie roll, the bacon really only shows as a little fattiness, like off butter. Watery finish.

Sampled on tap at Holy City, pours a clear gold with some tight white head. Nose has the expected straw and cracker notes, mild lemon, a little peanut skin thing too. Flavor improves a bit, clearer malt, lemon, yeast, straw, mild pepper. Clean finish. Just fine.

Keg at the brewpub, 18/02/15. Black with a dirty tan covering. Nose is light charr, molasses, liquorice, dose of hops, dark malts, spice. Taste comprises chocolate, liquorice, hint of soap, toffee fudge, vague BA notes. Medium + bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close. Drinkable but pretty basic for the style and lacking any great depth. I probably wouldn’t have guessed this was a BA impy without having known in advance!
