Description
Radiant Pig creates innovative, high-quality brews with colorful names and labels reminiscent of the street art found throughout NYC.

The story of Radiant Pig begins in a small Brooklyn apartment in 2013 when a former art school student and homebrewing fanatic decided to merge his two greatest passions: art and craft beer. The name Radiant Pig being a mashup of these two passions.

‘Radiant’ is inspired by Jean-Michel Basquiat, who was dubbed the ‘Radiant Child’ by art critic Rene Ricard. Pig is an acronym that stands for ‘people in gastropubs’, a nod to our customers and anyone who shares a love for craft beer.

Radiant Pig is a favorite amongst beer nerds and novices serving up everything from Hazy IPAs to sours, red ales and lagers. As demand and distribution has grown throughout the Northeast, we’re working on creating a brewery space and taproom in NYC where people can enjoy our beers.

Admin Note: Radiant Pig was acquired by Newport Craft Brewing & Distilling in 2020 [https://www.brewbound.com/news/radiant-pig-acquired-by-newport-craft-brewing-distilling/]

The Bodega, Brooklyn tap ($6): Pours ruby with a white, creamy head. Aroma is hoppy with minimal caramel malt. This goes more in the red IPA direction than the traditional American amber ale style. Taste is mostly hops, but with a nice malty backbone. Well put together.

Tap at draught 55 pours clear copper with pine and floral nose. Tastes of caramel, pinesol, other cleaning detergents, perfume, and oranges. Sticky but pleasant palate. Hoppy bite at the end.

On tap @ Rosamunde, Brooklyn, NY. Clear golden color with thin creamy white head, fair lacing and sparkling appearance. Aroma of honey, floral and pine hops. Taste starts with moderate sweet malt and honey, following is fresh and dry grassy and citric, while finish is plesantly bitter. Full body, thick texture and lively carbonation in palate. Crisp and fresh, easy going summer brew...

Jimmy’s No. 43, New York tap ($6): Pours orange with a white head. Aroma is pine, a teenth of citrus, little malts. Pretty aggressive hopping for a little beer. It doesn’t really feel like 4% (which is the amount that it said it was at the bar). The beer ain’t overly complex, but it is balanced generally well.

Draft at Top Hops... It has a resiny/pine hop nose, some citrus, and pale malts... Gold-orange pour, small off white head, mid-heavy lace... Flavor is mildly sweet and medium-plus bitter, nice resiny hop... The body is medium, good heft considering ABV, soft carb, dry finish... The got some pretty nice hop flavor and bitterness into a 5% beer. I quite liked this one. Nicely done.
