Newgrass Brewing Company resides in heart of what many people know as the “City of Pleasant Living,” otherwise known as Shelby, North Carolina. We draw on our farmland surroundings, traditions and local heroes for inspiration while striving to maintain our own unique and progressive brewing concepts.
Just as the “newgrass” music genre was a progressive take on a very traditional style of music in bluegrass, Newgrass Brewing Company strives to do the exact same by blending renditions of traditional styles with deconstructed and reinterpreted progressive brews that have no borders.

Aroma in the can is mainly raspberry and in the glass the addition of some punch. Flavors are somewhat similar to nose, with the addition in a nice mix-up of all the other qualities listed. Not overly sour and fairly easy drinking with good body and finish. Very nice beer.

The aromas are mainly pineapple in the can, in the glass so you get a little more passion fruit. Don't really pick out the mango. Flavors are like nose, definitely more tart with just a little sweet and good carbonation. Very rich beer. Would be great to cook with. No way I could drink another.

This is pretty good for a happy logger on the dry side. The aromas are fresh grapefruit and sweat hops with some wet grain. Flavors are like nose, hint of sweet upfront but more dry although a little more sweet does come on, great carbonation and just right bitterness. Nice body and finish. I could drink more of this.

50 cl can (9%) @ Kultainen Apina Aroma has licorice and hayish aroma typical to pet stores. Also chocolate. Flavour has chocolate, licorice, cereal and menthol-like hops. A bit too dry but okay.

44 cl can @ Kultainen Apina. Canned 10.13.2020 Aroma is quite mild with tropical fruits and fruit candy. Flavour has grapefruit, herbal hops, dill and some tropical fruits. Slightly too dry for my taste. This has some elements from Sabro/Sorachi Ace. Not exactly my thing.

Can at home. Dark brown to black color, small dark brown colored head. Aroma is malts, chocolate, fudge, vanilla, cocoa. Flavor is malts, chocolate, cocoa, vanilla, slightly a hint of hazelnuts perhaps, soft roast, lightly some alcohol notes, dark malt bitter in the finish. Oily syrupy texture, quite thick mouthfeel, relatively soft carbonation. Quite good.

Blueberry is big here. Some sense of pastry. Murky purple pour without much head. Light tangy tart end. Nice fruit bomb sour. Can.

473ml can [9.0% abv]. Jet black colour with late awakening, small, thick, creamy, moderately lasting and lacing, tan head. Aroma has initially (thankfully) ephemeral hints of dog shit, later hints of caramel, toffee and cocoa. Taste is sweet, dark and caramel malty, notes of dark caramel, toffee, some chocolate, cocoa; slightly warming, alcoholic finish. Very viscous texture, smooth and soft, slightly cloying palate, fine and soft carbonation. Though ephemeral, the dog shit touch in the aroma remains annoying, all the while it disappears physically yet doesn't vanish in memory totally. Furthermore not overly rich, rather monotonous and tacky - meh.
