Cask at Appalachian, Collegeville, 29/11/13. Mid black with a good sized tan head. Nose is roast malt, chocolate streak, toffee fudge, light booze notes, earthy, brown bread. Taste comprises bitter dark chocolate, brown sugars, chocolate biscuit, toffee fudge. Medium bodied with bite, fine carbonation, light woody boozey vein at the business end. Ok stuff, though this came over more as a stout possibly of the imperial variety.

Thanksgiving day lunchtime warm up, bottle split at Christine and Daves thanks to DLJ, 28/11/13. Slightly obscured golden amber with a moderate off white covering that retains. Nose is caramel malt, bitter hop resonance, light trace of chlorine, bitter orange, grass. Taste comprises oange pith, caramel malt forward, lemon peel, touch of grpaefruit and pine resin. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, dry grassy bitternss in the finale. Ok IPA - drinkable but not earth shattering.

Tap at Appalachian, Collegeville, 29/11/13. Simply listed as ’Espresso Stout’. Light black with a good sized tan covering that dissipates somewhat but retains. Nose carries a big espresso roasty blast, earthy cocoa, biscuit crumble, brown sugars. Taste comprises earthy cocoa, good coffee character, dark toffee fudge, roast malt. Medium bodied, fine carbonation with moderate roastings. Decent coffee stout ,probably best of the beers I sampled at Appalachian this day.

Tap at Appalachian, Collegeville, 29/11/13. Dark mahogony brown. Nose is caramel, brown sugars, dark malt notes, pinch of cocoa powder. Taste comprises cake mix, brown sugar, dark toffee fudge. Medium body, fine carbonation, dry finale with a sweet note or two. So - so, drinkable and representative of a dull style in my opinion - others are of course are available !

Tap at the Collegeville brewpub, 29/11/13. Light black with a thin tan covering. Nose carries a good roasted blast, dark toffee, light coffee, chocolate. Taste comprises brown sugars, earthy cocoa, molasses, treacle toffee. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, dry roasted finale. Solid enough stout.

2010 bottle thanks to Rob and Karen in 2013. Holds up fairly well. Murky thick burgundy brown. Head fades into an oily thin layer after a minute or two. A touch brutal, as would expected if the ABV is 12.8%, but it somehow has some nice balance. Sort of like an English Barleywine, not much hop character..rich, deep, Rich caramel tones generally associated with barrels..but I think this one is just straight up. Grows on you...an interesting Barleywine.

Draft at abc. Black color, beige head. Aroma of coffee! Taste is coffee! And burnt toast.

Draft at abc. Hazy amber brown color, cream colored head with good retention and solid lacing. Aroma of caramel biscuit and light cocoa. Taste is similar. Not bad.

Draft at abc. Cloudy yellow color, white edge head. Aroma of banana bubblegum, light clove. Taste is banana and citrus bubblegum.

Draft at abc. Murky brown color, tan edge head. Aroma of vanilla, toasted butterscotch. Taste is sweet vanilla, bourbob, chocolate. Boozy and sweet.
