Poured from a 750 ml bottle. Aroma is balanced with chocolate, dark caramel, toffee and toasted bread malt notes and raisin, cherry, fig and date malt notes. Light red wine characteristics with faint tannins and oak. Pours a dark brown, but not quite black with a medium large, thick and somewhat creamy, dark tan/light mocha head that recedes steadily to a thin film that lingers. Flavor is moderately acidic and somewhat sharp with a medium light sweetness. Upfront you get some light chocolate, toasted bread, caramel and toffee notes. Quite a bit of red grapes with some cherry and berry notes. Some lighter tropical fruit and citrus as well. Light red wine and tannin notes with faint oak. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with medium carbonation. Low astringency and low, but present alcohol warmth. Overall, an alright beer but nothing too special. The acidity is a touch sharp and the fruit notes in the flavor have a slightly artificial character to them. The malt profile is nice though. The barrel character is pretty light.

Poured from a 500 ml bottle dated 09/27/2016. Aroma is fruity with some berry, cherry and raisin. Light red wine and oak notes. Light notes of nuts, toasted bread and crackers. Hints of citrus and pineapple. Pours an amber red with some orange hues and a medium small, moderately thick, slightly tan head that recedes very quickly and disappears. No lacing or legs. Flavor is moderately acidic with a light sharpness to it. Some lemon and citrus notes with hints of pineapple. Some light berry, cherry and raisin notes with some red apple cider as well. Light malt notes with toasted bread and crackers. Low bitterness. Mouthfeel is medium light bodied with medium high carbonation. Low astringency and low alcohol warmth. Overall, a nice sour red, but its not quite to style. The fruit notes and malt are a bit lighter than traditional; I’m not sure this is really a flaw, but wanted to point it out.
