We are two chemical engineers who fell in love with Shelburne, Nova Scotia – the place, the people and the lifestyle. We quickly discovered that our career options here were limited. So…in 2012 we founded a craft brewery and made our own jobs, and a few others too.
We create craft beer experiences – we like to think we meet each of our customers where they are at on their craft beer journey. We do this by focusing on quality and consistency (like the well-trained engineers we are) and by crafting our products with purpose and intention. We brew a wide variety of styles and we believe we have a beer for everyone, even those of you who think you don’t like beer. We design beers to challenge your assumptions, and to honour traditional styles. We love what we do and where we live, and we love helping people like you find a local beer that you will love.
We were not always beer geeks – we have been on our own journey with craft beer. We started brewing in lobster pots in the backyard and fermenting in carboys in the living room (which occasionally meant yeast clumps on the ceiling)…and when we started drinking beer at least one of us mixed it with Clamato juice.

Sampled from the tap at Maxwell’s Plum. Pours a clear gold with an amber hue and a near white head that dissipates to the edges slowly and laces. Aroma has sweet citrus, sweet grains and a bit of pine supporting. Flavor has bitter citrus and some light grass with a sweet grain backbone.

Bottle - Earthy, spicy peppery notes with caramel. Dark copper with a rich beige head. Bitter u front, burnt toffee and a long bitter finish.

650mL bottle, pours a cloudy reddish amber with a small white head. Aroma brings out toasted caramel, bready notes, and a touch of English hops. Flavour brings out lots of toasted dry caramel, bready notes, and some bitter hops. Not exactly English bitter-like, but it's pretty robust and well-balanced. Solid.

Pours a brownish-amber. Thin head. Darker than expected. The aroma is light, thin malts, way to estery. On the palate, it’s light, fizzy, maybe some toasty malts, but a bit harsh, astringent on the palate. So thin and astringent - it’s not making me get excited about it. Not the best sense of balance on this one.

Bottle from my sister. An orange-amber color with a thin beige head. Citrus and tea aroma with a briny cinnamon accent. The taste is malty, citrus zest, some earthy tea notes and a bit bitter in the finish. Alright.

A reddish copper ale with a thin mocha head. In aroma, nice caramel malt with light nutty notes, light grassy hops, herbaceous character, very nice. In mouth, a nice caramel malt with resinous floral hops, grapefruit pulp, treacle, light butterscotch, very nice. On tap at Festibière de Gatineau 2016.

A hazed golden ale with a thin white head. In aroma, nice tart cherry malt with light lemon notes, citrus pulp, light and smooth. In mouth, a nice tart fruity malt with nice citrusy character, lemon juice, lactic acid, Epsom salts, nice and complex. On tap at Festibière de Gatineau 2016.

Purchased at a NSLC on my trip to Nova Scotia in late 2015. Pours a hazy amber colour with a beige bubbly head giving some creamy-foamy lace. Fruity sweet malt aromas with some light hops. The grassy hops are more present in the taste with some nice bitterness over the fruitiness and caramel malts. Grapefruit notes, but not too dry. The mouthfeel is just right. I quite like this Imperial IPA, as very easy-drinking with nice fruit notes and good maltiness.

Bottle: Poured a clear brown color ale with a light foamy head with minimal retention. Aroma of caramel malt with light earthy and musky hops is more or less pleasant. Taste is also dominated by caramel malt notes with dry earthy and musky hops that falls flat with some bitter notes in the aftertaste. Body is full with low to average carbonation. Ended up in the drain as the malt bill is too powerful and doesn’t allow for the hops to really shine.
