Description
Shacksbury Cider makes dry, food friendly wild ciders in Vergennes, Vermont. We source over half of our apples from Sunrise Orchards in Vermont as well as old, abandoned orchards throughout the Champlain Valley. We also work with Dragon Orchard in England and Petritegi Sagardoa in Spain. Our fermentations are slow and deliberate. We rarely use added sulfites. We prefer native yeast / wild fermentations and bottle condition via methode ancestrale or methode champenoise whenever possible. At Shacksbury, we believe cider can, and should, be daring and complex. From gnarled trees on New England farmsteads to Old World orchards in England and Spain, our cider will change the way you think about this amazing fruit.

On tap at Schilling - PDX, pours a clear golden blonde with a small white head. Aroma brings out gentle sweetness, with subtle funk and straw. Flavour is along the same lines, with moderate sweetness. Not much complexity. Meh. Kinda lame.

Draft at Craft Brewed. Pours a clear gold with no head. Funky nose with earth, straw, wet hay and musty basement aromas. Dried apple with more must and funk with a medium tartness that lingers. Dry finish.

Very nice rosé character on the nose, good pink clear body but no foam. Flavour is fresh and bright rosé cider. Dry finish, full tannins on the tongue. Excellent.

Can from my local trendy supermarket. Mojito glass pour. Clear, pale guava-pink, active body. Smells of sweet florals, acidic apples, chili pepper. Sharp & acidic apples, lots of peppercorn, obvious hibiscus & lingering spice on the end. Sparkling, slightly harsh carbonation. Close, but not quite dry. Apples weren't as potent as in their other offerings. ABV feels about right. Good.

Tap at Swingin'. Hazy gol, flat. Spicy, citrus and tropical fruit nose, big time hops. Light cider nots in there too. Flavor is apple with citrus and tropical fruit. Nicely balanced. The hops are a bit overwhelming, but they are nice hops.

Kind of an interesting idea but not so great execution. Aromaz are like a cider Farmhouse ale. Flavors are like nose Plus citrusy. slightly sweet with good Tang to balance. Some soapy flavors in there too. Not my thing.

A rosey pinkish cider with aroma of sweet apple jam, dark fruits, strawberry and grapeskin, pleasant. In mouth, a nice sweet apple jam with light acidity, light grapeskins, musty notes, light berries, pleasant and smooth. On tap at South Philly Tap Room.

Basically clear, bright oily citrus rind, the vast citrus just clashes with the tannic apple. But individually good elements.
