Founder and Chief Beer Officer, An Bui has gained international recognition in his years spent working at his family-owned restaurant, Mekong, the Vietnamese eatery located in Richmond, Virginia. Founded in 1995, Mekong flourished into an award-winning spot for beer enthusiasts because of its wide variety of rare and international beers and expansive food menu. After years of spreading his passion for craft beer to the local community and throughout, Bui decided to take things a step further. On September 2, 2014, An opened the doors to The Answer Brewpub, his very own craft brewery. Featuring 56 taps, 2 bars, and an exceptional stage area for live music, The Answer has become another means of An’s continuous vision to expand the Richmond beer community.

Gingerbread French Toast from The Answer

Draft at The Answer brewpub. Poured a pitch black color with a very small, wispy head. Aroma was huge ginger, gingerbread cookies. Actually pretty smooth. Rich, creamy, really nice roast. A touch sweet.

Table Hazy from The Answer

Draft at The Answer brewpub. Poured a very hazy, light yellow color with a small white head. Aroma was bit citrus hops. Flavor was a bit soapy, bitter hops. Perhaps too bitter and hoppy. Did not enjoy this all that much, though I appreciated the lower ABV a bit.

Can shared in London - cheers to Dave. Pours unclear orange-gold with a small, creamy white head. Medium to big sweet flavour, creamy citrus, melon, peach, tangerine. Medium bodied with fine to average carbonation. Sweet finish, some vanilla, more peach and tangerine. Sound.

Can at the Columbus Christmas Tasting. 15/12/2022. Thanks to Wingman. A hazed bright orange coloured pour iwth a fine white loose head. Aroma is super nice tropical fruit salad, pineapple, mango, five alive tropicals. dusting of white sugars. Flavour is composed of semi sweet, white sugars, five alive, mango, orange rind, mixed tropicals, white sugars. juicy. Palate is medium sweet, sticky, mellow carbonation. .

Xmas Boozy Bottleshare. Thanks to Wingman. Can. Hazy orange gold beer, small cream colour head. Smooth airy palate, decent fine carbonation. Soft light creamy malts. Nice blend of soft citrus with a good tropical fruit underpinning. Some savoury skunk coming through on the back end along with a touch of hop spice. Light finish. Slightly sweet but hugely drinkable.
