Tap @ Max Lagers, Atlanta. Hazed golden with a thin head. Has an active palate, dry, but fruity enough in both its aroma and taste. Has an extremely light sourness.

Tap @ Max Lager’s, Atlanta, Georgia. Cloudy yellow with a small head. Crisp, it has a light wheat styling and a bitterness through light citrus notes. There’s plenty of aroma in this respect.

Aggressively bitter DIPA, with mild notes of orange and grapefruit, but mostly a pine monster slathered in IBUs on the back end. Biscuit and caramel malts make a futile attempt at establishing some balance, but it’s all for naught, the long, resinous finish dominating the pint. Not bad.

Cotton candy beer. Way too much candi sugar gives this pint an off-putting heavy sweetness, making the Belgian yeast fruitiness come across almost Kool-Aid-like in its cloying dominance. Some toffee notes show up in the middle, but the overly bitter finish turns the brew medicinal and wholly unpleasant. Rough stuff.

Assertive coffee acidity offsets a apple-tinged lager sweetness, hints of cherry and yeast backing up cocoa and a slightly burnt undertone. Mouthfeel is off, too thin to support the style, but this seems to be a common trait among Max Lager offerings. Decent.
