Cask at CBC. It pours cloudy dark brown, with a thin beige head. The nose is charcoal, treacle, varnish, cola and liquorice. The taste is charcoal, roasted malt, sweet caramel, tar, treacle, smoke, wood, liquorice, cocoa powder and a touch of spice, with a long dry-dry roasted finish. Medium-full body and soft carbonation. A tasty black IPA.

Cask, handpump at Craft Beer Co, Clerkenwell, London 6th Jan 2012 Black in colour with a filmy head. This is an ’In yer face’ beer with loads of chocolate and citrus zapping around. Good thrusting bitterness with a nice drying finish, citrus showing well mainly grapefruit, drinks far too easily for the abv, Lovely, not quite as lovely as the ’Wild Boar’ but still a corking beer. Cask, handpump at Craft Beer Co, Clerkenwell, London 6th Jan 2012 This would have walked away as beer of the evening if it weren’t for the fact that Tom decided to crack open a Magnum of Gueuze (cheers mate!) Still this beer was utterly wonderful and despite the superb selection on in here, I had two ’Wild Boars’ and would have had more were it not for the fact that it ran out, sometimes something just hits the spot and you don’t want to try anything else and this was that beer this evening after a hard days brewing. Gold in colour moving towards light amber with a slim white head. Juicy, fruity with plenty of hops, I get mango, pineapple along with some sweet citrus fruits such as tangerine and clementine, lovely, lovely beer. A8 A4 T9 P4 Ov17 4.2

Cask at CBC, London. Pours clear yellow with a foamy, white head. Straw hop nose. Light to medium sweet flavor, dry straw, light dough. Light to medium in body with fine carbonation. Good condition. Dry finish, some delicate grass and straw, mild white bread. Good stuff, but not outstanding like most of the Buxton lineup. (3.7)

Cask at the Euston Tap, London. Pours clear gold with a fine, white foam head. Dry grass and straw nose. Light sweet flavor with strong bitterness, some dry grass, hay, dry biscuits. Light bodied with fine carbonation. Good condition. Sticky and dry hops to finish with lots of grass and straw, light sweetness. Quite crisp on the finish. A very well hopped beer that packs a lot of flavor punch for a low ABVer. (3.8)

Cask at CBC, London. Pours dark brown with red highlights and a foamy, tan head. Aroma holds some dark pine, mild roast, burnt grass and faint cocoa. Flavor is big and ballsy. Medium to heavy sweetness with the bitterness to match it. Dark malts of moderate roast, burnt wood and grass, pine, some juicy citrus in the background, burnt sugars. Full bodied with fine, delicate carbonation. Long, deep bitter finish, grassy, with understated roast, sweet and juicy grapefruit, mild wood and cocoa. Quite dynamic and damn good. Buxton is just doing great work these days.
