Nitro at the brewery. Near black... odd for this style. Aroma of cinnamon, nutmeg, caramel. Taste is caramel, toast, nutmeg, cinnamon. The taste is nuts, cinnamon, clove, caramel, toasted malt. Medium bodied, low carbonation, mild lingering spice.

Keg at the brewery. Black, thin creamy tan head, good retention. Aroma of vanilla, roast, chocolate, hints of cherry. Taste is roast, chocolate, spice, vanilla. Medium bodied. Solid.

Keg at the brewery. Near black, large foamy tan head, good retention. Aroma of toffee, earth, burnt sugar. Taste is toffee, earth, caramel. Thin-medium bodied.

Sample at GABF 10/08/2016, thanks to my sis for assistance with note-taking. Reddish-amber color with a medium thick khaki head that recedes gradually. Small patches of lace. Dark fruit, yeast and malt aroma. Full-bodied with a vinous oak character and notes of earthy yeast and caramel malt. The finish is oaky with a red wine and yeast aftertaste. Pretty good overall.
