Deep amber coloured body with a thin, one centimetre tall tan head. Aroma of caramel, toffee, earth, light hops and a bit of a grassy smell. Medium-bodied; Assertive grassy and nutty flavours at first with a smooth hop flavour and some light sugars, followed by a subdued, yet noticeable yeastie finish. Aftertaste shows a rather well-rounded flavour with toasted malt and grain showing through most with the light hops finishing it off well. Overall, nothing crazy here, but a decently smooth IPA with more grain and caramelised sugar flavours than hop bitterness. I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from New Beer Distributors in New York, New York on 25-April-2014 for US$2,60 sampled at home in Washington on 29-July-2014.

Draft. From notes. Pretty standard. Hints of coffee and chocolate. They call it dry, but it really wasn’t. Hmmm....

Bottle at the source. From notes. Been wanting to try this one for a while. Great brew. Smells and tastes just like a dark chocolate peanut butter cup.

Pour is a murky brown with a small tan head. Aroma is toffee and brown sugar. Flavor is Pretty much the same. Toffee, brown sugar and a bit of dark fruit. Decent malt notes and a big toffee make this one ok in my book.

Draft at the source. Pours a dark orange with a half finger white head. Bitter with citrus and a decent malt backbone. Pretty good

Pour is a amber with a average white head. Aroma is not muc more than some sweet malt. Flavor is about the same. Some sweet malt, no hops and almost nothing hitting you after the swallow. This is the epitome of a boring beer.

New Beer Distributors, NYC 12oz ($2.60): Pours copper with a frothy white head. Aroma is very, very hoppy, which leads me to believe that this was very fresh (also the fact that the label was made in 2014 seems to reinforce that). Aromas are grapefruit, some pine, minimal malts. Taste is rather bitter and leaves a hoppy aftertaste. Not too much in the tropical, sweet fruit, but more in the direction of pure grapefruit bitterness. This was pretty good.
