very nice label on this bottle. yes, quite strong initially wetting the lips right out of the bottle. smells like good hardtack candy. well now, not as bad as i thot it would be. is strong but more smooth than expected. goes down fairly easy. good kik, gets a little volatile on the olfactory. burps nicely. yes, nice label. good overall beer candy thing happening here. oh you go girl you horny goat, sly look in your eye.

From notes. A standout apa. Loads of hops and a lot of roasted malt. I’ll drink this one again.

From notes. A little pumpkin and a lot of spices. Like most beers in this style, it’s more "pumpkin pie" than pumpkin. Pretty good.

Aroma: The nose is sweet and malty, with chocolate, caramel, vanilla, and a little spice
Appearance: Pours a clear reddish-dark orange/brown color with a small beige head and light lace
Flavor: Taste-wise, it is sweet, with the same notes as the nose and almost no balancing bitterness
Palate: The body is light and it drinks a little too watery, with average-plus carbonation and a short duration
Overall Impression: This is an OK beer. I don't think it tastes like a brownie, but it is sweet, and it has some of the same flavors. The feel is a bit of an issue as well, as it is hard to shake how watery it feels. Overall, this one is not bad, just sub par.

From a tap at burgatory in robinson. Not quite as dark as I would expect a porter to be. Does have a mild roastiness to it on the olfactory, so I guess its almost porter like in smell. Taste is somewhat like a dark decent beer, mild without lots of personality. Lacks some of th attributes that I associate with porter, probably more like a dark lager. Same with the appearance, this stuff is not really dark enough to be a porter, more like a yuengling and I don’t mean the black and tan. Yes, not offensive so I guess that is a positive when it comes to beer ande ale. Finish is accetable. One of the less offensive horny goat beers I’ve had.

Smell is Ok but this beer is like so many other pumky beers; rude and overall not so pompkin, mostly pumpkin spices.

Bottle on Amtrak Train 27 - The Empire Builder ( from Binny’s South Loop) - 04/11/12. Hazy orange/amber with a thin bubbly white head that soon forms a pond and moves to the edges. Nose of caramel malt, hops, a hint of pine, citrus note. Taste follows, a little orange and a touch of bitter grapefruit. Medium bodied with soft carbonation leading to a bitter finish. Pretty boring.

Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a hazy dark amber color with a large creamy orange-white head that lingered and left good lacing. The aroma was dry nutmeg and cinnamon with hints of clove and sulfur. The flavor is bitter, tangy and sulfuric with moderate notes of nutmeg and cinnamon. Long bitter and tangy finish with lingering sulfur and nutmeg. Medium body. Ok.

Aroma: The nose is light and mostly spice (typical of style: nutmeg, pumpkin, cinnamon, etc)
Appearance: It pours a mostly clear orange color with a small white head and light lace
Flavor: The spice comes out more then it did in the nose, but it's still dull, and that's about all there is
Palate: The body is light-medium, it has a reasonably smooth feel, and a soft-to-average carbonation
Overall Impression: This one isn't bad by any means, it is just kind of dull. It is certainly not a top of style offering for me, and I really like this style. As only the 2nd rater, I can say for sure I didn't like it nearly as much as the (brewery employee? brewer's relative?) person who reviewed it before me.

Aroma: The nose is rather subtle, with just notes of milk chocolate, caramel, and roast
Appearance: Pours a dark brown color with a small, fizzy beige head and minimal lace
Flavor: The taste is medium sweet, a little less bland then the nose, but with similar components
Palate: The body is fairly light for the style, watery, with an average-plus carbonation, and a short duration
Overall Impression: I wasn't all that impressed. You could probably look at the 30 + scores that have been entered before me, and guess pretty much what you are getting here...
