About
AF Brew is one of the pioneers of Russian craft beer revolution. We started the show in the ‘faraway’ 2012 in St. Petersburg, the most beer-focused and heritage city of Russia. Four years ago we started as a gipsy brewery having launched one of the first accessible craft beers in Russia – Ingria IPA, with the name dedicated to historically disputed region where the city of St. Petersburg is located. Our primary mission has never changed since then – we brew beer which was never brewed before and we keep no rules. November 2016 we turned the biggest page in our history: we finally built our very own brewery in our home city. The brewery is located on the historical site of 18-19th century city brewery and we did our best to make it a very nice and devoted place to brew and to spend time in. The open plan site with 20 hl brewing system and 400 hl fermentation capacity is supposed to grow twice in two years. It is already a home base for all our brews, collaborations and guest projects. It’s coupled with a barrel-room full of various wood-aging stuff and a taproom to drink, talk and have fun around.

Bottled. Deep reddish brown colour, small off-white head. Aroma is sweet malts, caramel, some pine, resin and mild toffeeish tones. Flavour is zesty, caramel, and some resin and mild toffeeish tones with some alcohol tones. Nice bitterness, but a bit too sweet.

Draught@TCBW2018. Hazy pink colour with a small pinkish head. Aroma is raspberries, some slight lactic notes and mild tartness. Flavour is mildly sour wood, some tart berries, raspberries and some slight yeasty tones. Nicely balanced and refreshing.

Draught. Hazy yellow colour with a big white fluffy head. Aroma is citrus, some pineapple, pine, a bit spicy tones too. Flavour is fruity, floral, pineapple, pine, some grape fruits, mild lactic acid with a rather huge hop burn to it. It's rare to say, but a bit too freshly served with the hop burn to it...

Draught. Deep brown colour with a mediumsized beigeish brown head. Aroma is toasted, some coconut, chocolate and mild lactose notes. Flavour is coconut, some roasted malts and toasted malty tones with quite a bunch of ashes kicking in, in the finish. A bit too ashy for it's own best, otherwise a quite nice Bounty brew.

Bottled. Hazy goldeny orange colour with a mediumsized white head. .Aroma is herbal, grassy, fruity and some mild earthy tones. Flavour is herbs, grassy, some fruity, nectary and quite wooden elements. Refreshing and a nice bitterness in the finish.

500ml can from Pivo i PenaPaki in Moscow. Pours hazy orange with a small white head. Aroma is mandarin, coconut, mango. Taste is medium sweet, coconut and other tropical fruit. Light bitter finish. Medium to full bodied. Seems a bit too sweet, so something normal for AF Brew.
