The brewery is itself a confluence of John and Ken’s love for Iowa and craft beer. The result is a microbrewery that shares Iowa’s attributes of honesty, humility, hard work and a sense of humor. Confluence also has Iowa’s knack for being a delightful surprise to those who actually experience it.
Confluence cares about the creativity and craftsmanship that goes into making excellent beer, and knows that excellent beer can bring good friends together.

Keg at the brewery. Hazy amber, thin fizzy tan head, fair retention. Aroma of whiskey, raisin, caramel, oak. Taste is cherries, caramel, lemon, oak, whiskey. Medium bodied. Solid.

Keg at the brewery. Clear dark brown, red highlights, large creamy tan head, good retention. Aroma of scotch, smoke, caramel. Taste is strong smoke, peat, earth, caramel, oak, cherries. Medium bodied. Awesome.

Keg at the brewery. Dark amber, thin creamy white head, good retention. Aroma of plum, cherry, toffee, brown sugar. Taste is strawberry, cherry, brown sugar, booze, spice. Medium bodied, warming.

Keg at the brewery. Nitro. Near black, ruby highlights. Dense creamy tan head, good retention. Aroma of roast, chocolate. Taste is roasted malt, caramel, coffee, dark chocolate. Medium bodied, smooth, mild lingering bitterness. Very nice.

Keg at the brewery. Clear amber, thin creamy white head, good retention. Aroma of hay, bready malt, caramel, cherries. Taste is cherries, bready malt, lemon, spice. Medium bodied, well balanced. Crisp. Very nice.

Keg at the brewery. Clear amber, large creamy white head, good retention. Aroma of toasted malt, caramel. Taste is cherry, toasted malt, caramel, hoppy finish. Medium bodied.

750 ml corked and caged bottle. Bottling of Nov 2016. Pours a pink in color with thin lasting head. Aroma is exactly as the label leads you to believe. Huge spruce followed by cranberries.
I like the appearance and the aroma, unfortunately it is like drinking a Christmas tree. The spruce is that strong. Very mild Berry and nothing more. All spruce tips. This was damn near undrinkable. I coked down about 3 ounces and had to stop.

Growler shared at Hunah Day. Pours a clear brown with small off white head that diminishes quickly. The aroma is roast, dark fruit, caramel. Medium body, raisin, caramel, cocoa, toasted malt, light finish, very good.

Growler. Pours a cloudy yellow with small white head. The aroma is citrus, yeast, spice. Medium body, pepper, yeast, citrus, light dry finish, decent.
