Shared bottle at RB/HD on board Fridtjofen 14.04.15. Very dark brown. Pale brown, foamy head and lacing. Floating sediments in spite of careful pouring. Aroma of dark malt and old jam that has started to ferment. Very dry mouthfeel and taste of roasted malt and coffee.

Shared 500 ml bottle at local tasting. Black colour, large beige head. Some floaties in the glass. Nice roasty aroma, coffee, dark chocolate and wood. Light bodied, fizzy mouthfeel. Dry and woody flavour, roasty notes, cold coffee.

RBHD-samling på Fridtjofen april-15, og nok en sørafrikansk flaske importert av skibsrederen. Brunsvart med højt beige skum. Aroma og smak av kakao og mørk sjokolade. Bruser i munnen. Meget tørr, snerper i munnen. Bedre aroma enn smak. Over bordkanten.

From bottle in Jo’burg 15.03.15. Pale and almost clear straw colour. Huge and foamy white head. Aroma of banana and soap. Same in taste, with a hint of coriander. Slightly sour.

From bottle in Jo’burg 12.03.15. Almost clear orange. Foamy off-white head. Refreshing hop aroma, with some kind of tropical fruit. Taste and aftertaste is also refreshing and balanced, but perhaps lacking a bit in personality. More aroma and taste of medium dark malt as the beer warms up. Very quaffable!

Bottle from Loco Liquor in Blairgowrie, Johannesburg, bb Aug 2014
The bottle is a slow gusher; it pours a hazy golden-amber color with large compact head, sustained by a turbulent perlage. The aroma is strange, evidently impacted by uncontrolled fermentation, a bit yeasty, although not completely off-putting. But the flavor goes downhill, with strong yeast presence, extremely dry mouthfeel, nasty chicory bitterness, some vegetables; the final is a bit astringent and metallic.
Unpleasant; a little QA wouldn’t hurt.

Surprisingly clear. Only a little bit of haze. The aroma is somewhat phenolic, but I wouldn’t say that these are phenols appropriate to style. Fizzy, too phenolic and this overwhelms the light yeast character.

Hazy blonde. Light straw aroma with vague hop and a fair dose of yeast. Light bitterness, lots of yeast with corresponding effervescence. Decent balance, though I wouldn’t say this is very Bohemian in character.

Pours a hazy amber with a giant head. Moderate bitterness, but indistinct. The malts are also a bit vague, hinting at toast. Ok, but a rather uneven brew.
