Pint can thanks to hershiser2! 5/5/23. First live rate in a while as I got my vacation backlog in. Hazy orange, large beige head, average retention. Aroma of melon, orange, pale malt, mild hint of dank. Taste is grapefruit, lime, lemon, pale malt. Juicy, tad bit thin. Decent.

Ever so slightly hazy light golden coloured body with a faint, super filtered honey glow, all under a nice two centimetre tall microfoamed just off-white head. Aroma of flowers, dry malts, grass, light honey sweetness and a hint of soft hop bitterness in the nose with low alpha acids. Medium-bodied; Very rich malts seemingly come out of nowhere here, with a deep biscuity and super dry quality with some bitterness, all punching out any deep hop bitterness, but what comes next is sweet - honey flavours show with a soft citrus note that is lemony and even showing a dose of cleanser and lemongrass notes. Aftertaste is fairly well-balanced with a ton of dry, grassy and citrusey flavours with a good level of sweetness that cuts through, all with noticeable alcohol that warms the palate and ends fairly robustly. Overall, a pretty nice, fairly complex, very dry and grassy IPA that sort of borders on Imperial status, but this is purely East Coast IPA, not new school at all. Nice to sample very fresh and local and a good option for older IPA lovers! I sampled this sixteen ounce, pint-sized can, purchased from Wegman's in Lake Manassas (Gainesville), Virginia on 15-September-2021 for US$1,99, canned on 13-May-2021 with the tagline 'SSS Darren Decker' and sampled at my house here a few blocks from the Pentagon on 08-October-2021.

16 oz can from DC. Thanks Ashley! Pours a clear gold color with a white head and very good retention. Minimal lacing. Standard pale malt aroma. Very clean pale lager flavor. Good malty base without being sweet or corny. Not bitter. Light bready finish. Medium body and soft carbonation. Super smooth. Just a really good, well made pale lager.

16oz can. Poured a hazy orange color with a medium sized white head. Nice orange character, a touch of crispness. Pretty well balanced, with a slight edge to the juicy, flavorful hops. A nice compromise from the typical haze beer these days, even if it's pretty much a close cousin. More juicy APAs please!

Deep, super crystal clear amber, bronze and copper glowing body, with a nice one to two centimetre tall tan head that fades to an oily slick that barely covers the top. Aroma of pine, sap, malts, toasted grain, citrus, resin, honey and a lot of grassiness, all with a distinct herbal bite near the end of the nose. Medium to Full-bodied; Rich, syrupy, resinous and very piney bitterness up front with a strong herbal and grassy bite, but also a lot of sugars all coming through, with a pungent grainy malt characteristic and some deep, astringent and pungent flavours that of course show alcohol, but also a lot of medicinal bitterness. Aftertaste is rich, deep, very sweet, malty and showing perhaps too much resin, too much hop bitterness and too much leftover sweetness - this is very rich across the board. Overall, a strong, aptly named Imperial IPA with too much pungency and depth, definitely showing an 'old school' bite, but also too many sugars and astringency to be good. Nice to try and good if you want to reminisce from the Mid 2000s of how Imperial IPAs all used to be. I sampled this sixteen ounce, pint-sized can, purchased from Total Wine in Manassas, Virginia on 27-November-2020 for US$4,99, which was canned on 24-April-2020 (a while ago), but was sampled at my house here in Washington on 06-December-2020.
