Not my favorite. Overly spiced, to my way of thinking. Pours a deep, dark brown-black (like a stout) with nice, thick, creamy brown-white head (like a stout). Strong aroma of cinnamon, allspice, etc. (kind of a turn-off, actually). Flavor is dominated by the allspice and cinnamon, with some extra carbonation-fizziness for good luck. I’m a bit surprised by all the high ratings here, as I really didn’t care for this combination...

ABR 2013. An ok American pale ale. Dry malt and dry, grassy hops. Average palate, and flavors common to the style.

Interesting attempt at something different, though I’m not sure it succeeds, exactly. Pours a dark, cola-brown, with quickly dissipating, medium-sized head. Aroma of banana and fruit esters. Flavor is largely banana and clove, with some darker notes. I’m not really tasting the chocolate so much. It tastes pretty much like a dunkelweizen. Don’t know what all the fuss is about...

All Pints North, 2013. Dark brown. Well roasted malt for dryness with grain but also some sweet sugar.

Tap at Republic. Brown color. Well hoped with malt. Good palate and some herbal character. This is comparable to Bender. Good.
