I am not sure there should be any Belgian character, but it is a good, unusual beer anyway. Lots of salt and wheat. Some citrus. Well carbonated. Refreshing. This is the Herk’s best beer.

Draft @ brewpub. Pours is golden with a lightly sticky lacing. Aroma is crisp, lemon-y, with a strong herbal, German hoppiness. Right on the money I say. Its very clean and sharp. Taste is there but there is just a little hint of diacetyl but it doesn’t interfere too much with the other pils aspects. Has a good bitterness to the flavor. Very dry at the end. Just neet to get rid of that diacetyl a little more.

One of the worst bocks I have ever had. Very dry and bitter. Some hops. No caramel or any other sweet flavors, but kind of a vegetable/plant matter character. This recipe needs to be entirely redone.

Served in a weizen glass at the brewpub. Expensive at $6. The beer is black, and the lighting is dark so I can’t tell if it is filtered or there is any sediment. Aroma has wheat, yeas, and roasted malt. Flavor has lots of roasted malt as well, it is probably the most heavily roasted dunkelweizen I have ever had, which is OK, but if they were going to roast it so much, it would have been cool to use some smoke as well. Flavor has some wheat sweetness and a little banana. Fairly thick on the palate, but the flavor could be more intense. I liked it.
