About
Jaanihanso is a family owned cider house and orchard on a historic farm dating back to the 18th century. Our family bought Jaanihanso in 2000. Our knowledge of the farm’s history originates from the papers that we found from the house, and from older villagers stopping at our gate to reminisce about the “old days”.
The renovation story of the estate has been in sync with our own growing pains. Some years with larger construction works, some years not that much, but there has been constant mutual bettering. In 2013, when the last bits of the house had been refurbished, the car had to move out from its brand-new pigsty-turned-garage to make room for cider. Famously, a garage is the best place to start a venture.

(Bottle, 0.75 l - 2015 vintage - BB 01.06.2028, from Sip Tallinn, 20190907) The cider poured golden and clear. Its head was small and white. Aroma had apples, vanilla and lightly sourness. Palate was medium bodied with rather high carbonation. Flavours were apples, sourness, vanilla and light tartness. Aftertaste was dry and lightly tart. A decent dry but too fizzy cider.

Bottle at a tasting. Thin body and high carbonation. Overflowing with Christmas spices, loads of cinnammon, clove, star anise. Underlying moderate apple character. Quite good.

Sampled @ Cider World Frankfurt 2019. A clear rose color. Aroma of red berries, grapes and mild sweet apples. Taste of mild sweet and sourish red apples and berries.

Hazy pale straw with thin white ring head. Saucy apples, vanilla, grassy hops, distant moldy onion. Dry oak wood. Moderate sweet and bitter, light appley citric tart. Medium body and soft carbonation. | [2020-08-06 22:20:10] - Locatie: Lunterenstraat - Score: 3.5 - Comment: Vintage 2018. Pale and hazy, no head. Mild sour apples, outpowered by lemony fruity and elderflower floral hops. Mild sweet and medium sour. Low carb. Good bit of hop power going on.
