Description
We’re just a bunch of beer geeks who have all pondered the same question: “With breweries popping up everywhere else in Alabama, why not in the southern part of the state?” Rather than sit around a bemoan the answer, we decided to do something about it, and the Fairhope Brewing Company was born.

The Fairhope Brewing Company is located at 914 Nichols Ave., just a block off Highway 98 in Fairhope, Ala., and less than five minutes from beautiful downtown. Our taproom is open six days a week, offering a comfortable atmosphere to meet up with friends and enjoy a variety of our hand-crafted beers. We don't have a kitchen, but please feel free to bring in your own food.

12 ounce bottle. Deep orange gold color. Rocky beige head with clinging lace. Fruity malt nose. Bittersweet citrus hops right out of the gate. Then, a huge blast of peppery bitterness. Rich and complex middle. Notes of caramel and earthy malt. Finishes dry and bitter with herbal notes. Alcohol notes as well. Very well done.

Bottle: Hazy amber with an off-white head. Pine, (cactus?), orange aroma. Sweet, but resiny....nectary fruits, orange malt, caramel malt flavours. VERY good....sturdy, rich body.....right on the edge of an Imperial, but easy to drink.....nice sweetness to bitter balance.

12 oz bottle from Macon bottle shop. Dark brown thin bodied beer with coffee nose. Taste is mainly coffee, trails off to astringent chocolate and roasted malt finish. No major league stout certainly, but pretty decent.

12 oz bottle. The beer is very dark brown, black in the middle. Medium light brown head, kinda fizzy. The aroma has some nice milk chocolate flavor and a fairly mild coffee character. Nice cold brew flavor. Not very roasty at all. Taste doesn’t quite live up to the aroma. No real richness or depth. More roast in the taste. A lot more coffee. Very mild chocolate. A cola flavor that really doesn’t help. The cold brew dominates rather than playing nicely with other flavors. Thin mouthfeel, fairly fizzy. It smells nice but the taste is not what I want out of a coffee stout.

Bottle shared by Tom, thanks! Pours a hay orange gold with a white head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has earthy/musty pine with a sweet grain backbone. Flavor has lots of earthy citrus and grass with a bit of bread and straw backing.

Bottle, my second time trying this beer and the fresh sample is considerably better. Fairly thick palate for the style. 8.2 seems like a double ipa to me, and that is what I thought of while drinking it. Sweet malt flavors and hop juice. Some citrus, a little pine, and a bitter finish. Good carbonation helps the palate as well. Sweet finish with hops. Score increased from 2.9.
