Description
Oxbow is a small farmhouse brewery located in rural Newcastle, Maine. The brewery is nestled in an enchanted forest amongst rolling farmlands and winding tidal rivers, of which the ebb and flow provide a constant reminder that the coast is near.
The name Oxbow is inspired by the bends in these rivers, the Dyer in particular, which features stunning horseshoe-shaped oxbows where the river covers tremendous ground to travel what could otherwise be a very short linear distance. We employ a similar approach when crafting our beers, taking months or years to create a beverage that is commonly produced in a matter of days.

Aroma is a bit offensive with grapefruit and nettled. Also lots of gooseberry bush. Flavour is very tart with lactic acid, grapefruit, some orange and b.retta tones. A bit unpleasant at all its aggressiveness. Perhaps it is the milky tones here.

Tap at Proletariat. Pours a clear orange with no head to speak of. Nose is fruity yeast. Tastes of vanilla, cherry, spicy yeast, perfume, and very biscuity. creamy mouthfeel with semi sweet lingering effects. kind of odd brew that misses mark a bit.

Bottle @ Armin’s apartment, courtesy of lukaduke. Thanks ! Pours a bit hazy, dark red orange appearance with a thin light brown head. Black cherry, acetic, earthy, heavy tannin / leathery aroma. A lot of tart, dark berries, raspberry, cherry flavor. Quite a bit of leather and tannins. Moderately tart but not overpowering. Pretty neat beer.
