Bomber. Poured a dark burnt orange, murky, not much head. Smelled largely of wood, some dark fruit. More like a barley wine, pretty good though.

Poured a shiny red Brown into tulip. Wood, fruit, oak, vanilla. Caramel and bourbon. Pretty great and deceptively drinkable

Super clear golden coloured body with a thinnish, relatively fast-dying off-white head that only shows at a bit over a centimetre. Aroma of crisp grass and flowers with a deep, bretty (of course!) scent with some funky yeast and foeder notes with a hint of sour qualities, but the oak and grass are both very strong in the nose. Light-bodied; Very crisp and intense grassy and especially floral flavour that hits at first with a big bretty, oaky, cedary and tea-like flavour that has a lot of bretty notes soon afterwards with a complex and crisp yeast finish that brings out a bit of bread, but more of the oak and cedar notes that end in a tiny bit of sourness. Aftertaste shows a good, complex and very drying malt presence with a soft honey finish and a lot of flowers, grass, hay and oak notes that give this a great complexity while being easy-drinking. Overall, a nice and super complex beer that is very crisp and robust with a grassy, hay-like and perfumey beer that brings out the complexity from the yeast of course with a great use of brett, with this getting some extra time in the bottle! Great to sample and while I'd tell you to go out and buy this, it's probably too late for that! I sampled this 37,5 cL bottle purchased from Crystal City Wine Shop in Arlington, Virginia on 19-July-2019 for US$9,16 sampled just over three years later on 23-July-2022, a few blocks away at my house here in Washington.

22oz bottle pours a clear amber with some white head. Nose has root veg, malt, spice, candy. Flavor starts the same, caramel, malt, spice, but then there's a HUGE whiskey kick. Boozy finish.

22oz bottle at the early December Ratebeer DC Tasting. Poured a relatively dark amber copper color with a very small head. Aroma was light yam/pumpkin/gourd. Light bretty funk, with a little barrel. Flavor was light sweetness, but it wasn't a disaster. Perhaps a little more age out of the fridge could have produced some more funky notes.

From a bomber at the December 2018 RB gathering. Pour a hazy amber with an off white head. Aromas are pumpkin pie spice. Flavors are moderately sweet vanilla.

Everything you would expect from a yam beer by Bad Wolf. Too sweet with random citrus. Sour and odd on aftertaste.
