bottle - Pours dark brown and has a roast malt aroma with a touch of coffee. The flavor is mainly roast malt. It’s on the sweet side with low hop presence. It’s medium bodied and a little more bland than I like. It’s okay.

Bottle. Lactic chocolate malt and hay aroma. Dark brown with large tan head. Lightly sweet chocolate/coffee malt and mildly bitter hay flavor. Nice body. Very nice.

Bottle: Pours black.....rubied, with a small, creamy beige head. Aroma is malty chocolate, slightly smoky. Rich...chocolate, a hint of licorice....herbal.... Porter-like in taste. Really good.

Charcoal nose, dirt. Cola brown, clear, thick pale tan head. Charcoal, cardboard, cane sugar. Leafy bitterness. Light body, alcohol not sensed. Not horrible, but has some issues.

The appearance was a dark brown color, half finger white to almost off white foamy and bubbly looking head that once it dies. There is some light somewhat spider webbed lacing.
The smell was a slightly roasty with some malts and coffee.
The taste was roasty and sweet through the coffee and malts; light coffee/chocolate aftertaste; dry watery finish.
On the palate, it sits fairly light on the palate, has a smooth carbonation to it like a good Schwarzbier should.
Overall, it seems like the style was hit square on, but its a Schwarzbier and often super hard to make extremely desirable. I’ll be able to finish off the 6 pack, but stand on the fence if I would buy it again.

Bottle: Poured a dark amber brown with thin tan head. Aroma is coffee, but not overwhelming. Taste is very grainy with light roasted coffee and malts.

Bottle again at a random pub as I wait for prescription fill. Pours weird clear brown not dark enough for schwarz. Nose is faint chocolate. Tastes of chocolate, light coffee, some pine, and flat cola. Way too thin palate. Session able but like coffee flavored water.

This beer is a clear dark brown color with some red around the edges. Thin foamy beige head that dissipates quickly to an outer ring. Short strings of lacing. Roasted malt and chocolate in the nose. Light body with flavors of toasted malt, coffee and chocolate. The finish is sweet with a chocolate malt aftertaste. Pretty average overall.

Bottle from Bert’s Clear dark brown color with ruby highlights and a smallish off white head that dissipates quickly. Caramel malt with a hint of chocolate and crusty bread makes up the majority of the aroma. The flavor is what I expected from the aroma. Toasted bread and light caramel and chocolate. Medium body with a moderate level of carbonation and a slick smooth mouthfeel. Decent beer but less chocolate creamy mouthfeel than I usually expect from the style.

12oz bottle pours with a clear amber body that supports a semi weak tan head of mostly medium size bubbles. The aroma offers up roasted malts and a light mix of toffee and nuttiness with thin ribbons of burnt malts around the edges. The taste has a nice dark roasted malt kick that includes dark roasted coffee and a mild burnt malt note. Beneath the moderate roastiness are sweet malts and a bit of sweet caramel and chocolate malts. Decent for the style.
