Proudly served at a Greek restaurant in Columbus, you have to look pretty closely at the bottle to realize it is actually brewed in the USA, and it is billed as the "official beer of Greece" or some such. The label says it is an "Amber Ale" but it really is a Lager. Golden/amber color with a medium thin white head. Fizzy with little lacing. Aroma is lightly hoppy and lightly malty. Somewhat light-bodied and mildly malty under a low level of hops and citrus. Not a beer I would seek out but goes okay with a gyro platter.

Completely opaque black colour with a crazy brown and somewhat ORANGE head! The head dies down quickly, but a small amount remains for quite a while. The smell is just as insane. Most likely the most potent caramel smell i've ever had aside from smelling an authentic fleur de caramel (the real french caramel made with fleur de sel). The caramel smell arising from this beer definately smells artificial, but it is very intoxicating. A medium to light bodied beer with sufficient caramel flavouring throughout, but the aftertaste is a bit souring and watery. All in all, not a bad beer, but the smell and look made this beer appear to be a real winner. Too bad the taste and aftertaste didn't show through as much as the former. This is my second beer from the brewery, and after their first let-down, I will try some more of their beer cautiously.

This was a decent porter, especially given the price. Had a good amount of bitterness which was surprising for the medium to light body. This isnt like your average micro porter. A leg up in my book, on yuengling which might as well be called a Light Porter. It has some good plum-raisin notes but overall dosent pack the body/bitter/roast flavor that I enjoy in porters. If you are lookin for more of a lighter porter, this may be your beer. I guess you have to give yuengling and this credit for departing from the dark, strong porters made today. The old porter was a mix of a strong, brown and old ale, somewhat hoppier than a brown ale and with more alcohol and aging. Whatever the case, porter is good. :)

Along with Yuengling, this is an old-school porter. Whereas many modern porters are very similar to stouts, these two, along with the revivalist Piedmont Porter, are not. I like the old-school porter style. This is very dark mahogany, with a plummy, fruity nose. Medium body. Sweet palate, with plum, red apples, some toffee, brown sugar notes. Easy-drinking, though a touch wet in the finish. Enjoyable. I think if the porters that Molson and Labatt''s used to make right up until a few years ago were of this calibre, they would still be making them.

Orange coloured. Dry, medium bodied, hop dominated, bitter, grape aroma.....

Contrary to the description on the bottle - the honey doesn't add a smooth finish but more of a dry sticky finish. This beer is very sweet - borderline cloying. Overdone.
