Description

[33cl swing top bottle, as Winterse Bok, 7.8% abv] Slightly hazy, opaque colour with a medium-sized beige frothy head. Sweet toast-malty aroma with toffee, licorice, subtle fruity notes and a delicate touch of grassy and herbal hops. Sweet flavour, full bodied and slightly fizzy on the tongue. Robust toast-malty base with caramel, licorice and a subtle touch of raisins. Little bitterness and a shy hops character become more pronounced towards the sweet and malt-accented finish with an alcoholic touch that cannot be hidden anymore. Not a great, but likeable Dubblebock [12.I.09].

Swing top bottle (BB 12/2010). Thanks bierkoning. Hazy yellow color, small white head, lace. Cat piss, barnyard nose. Cat piss, grassy fresh hay, sweet lemony flavor. Lively carbonation. Long lingering bitterness. This is an extreme cat piss -hop experience. Similar to Plevna Severin.

Bottle from De Bierkoning. Very cloudy, almost milky yellow colour, creamy white head. Aroma of sweet citrusfruits, mostly lemons, hops, a hint of alcohol. Flavour is soft and sweet, lemon, a hint of mint and some alcohol. Soft grassy/earthy bitter finish. Really good and fullbodied, soft carbonation and rounded mouthfeel. It’s actually an unfiltered strong lager, but with all the qualities of a good strong IPA. Very well done! 849418 Re-rate: I’ve had this a couple of times now, and am not as enthousiastic as I was before, especially not when it’s from tap. The combination of the alcohol with the hops is quite harsh at times, and it’s rather sweet imo. Still a really good beer, but not a 4.3. 748416

Bottled, bought at Mitra. Dark color, short head. Aroma of roasted malt, some coffee, bit licorice. Bit stronger in taste than the average Dutch bock. Quite ok.
Earlier Rating: 10/31/2005 Total Score: 3.2
PINT bokbier 2005: Clear light brownish color, short off-white head. Aroma of caramel malt. Quite sweet taste, bit caramel malty, slightly bitter. Ok bock, but it lacks complexity.

A hazy dark brown ale with a rich onctuous moka head. A pleasant estery fruity aroma, light solvents, and plums and banana. In mouth, a rich and smooth bock with licorice, candy sugar, hops. Very nice. 2 L growler from LCBO, shared at Dumdum x-mas party.
