Speciaalbierbrouwerij St. Christoffel
Client Brewer in Haarlem, Noord-Holland, Netherlands 🇳🇱
Established in 1986
Description

Pours a rich cherry red colour with thin receding head. Perfumed aroma of red fruits. The centre of the flavour is based around syrupy red fruits, most notably cherry & pomegranate. At the edge the malt tries to show it’s face but fails.

2L Bottle shared with family (really fresh bottle): Poured a deep clear brown color beer with a nice nig foamy head with excellent retention and some good lacing. Aroma of caramel malt with some sweet ester is very interesting. Taste is very smooth with some creamy notes with some sweet caramel malt notes. Body is full with a huge malt backbone and some great carbonation. I have to admit to being really surprised about that one.

Can’t believe I hadn’t rated this before! Cloudy pale yellow with a big, firm and lasting white head. Spicy noble hops, a hint of citrus and a good dose of pilsner malt in the nose. Very bitter with a nice hop flavour. Refreshing, has a good body, and a lasting pine-hoppy aftertaste.

Pours a cloudy yellow colour with tight head. Aroma is a little musty with some lighter sweeter notes to be found too. Flavour has some floral hop. It’s a little sharp and zesty to begin with before strong hop bitterness dominates. This is a great thirst quencher.

Bottle. Eck. I bought this beer because it caught my eye slightly. I had no idea what I was getting myself into to be honest. The beer was extremely malty. Far far too malty for my drinking pleasure. Extremely sweet as well, to the point where I was unable to finishi this beer. The bottle I drank felt fairly flat so it could have been a bum bottle. Drain pour.

33 cL bottle. Pours hazy dark brown with an off-white head. Fruity and caramel malty aroma. Slight berry flavour, caramel malty and more dry than sweet. Malt and bitterness lingering into the finish. Good but also a bit on the boring site imho.

Bottle I think that I picked this up from the Dodgy Deli’, Cowely Road, Oxford Pours warm golden with large white head. Aroma hoppy, bit florally. This really tasted smashing and nothing like I’d expected especially for the style. This was a real hit, great hoppy explosion combining with some nice toasted malts a lovely lingering bittereness, quite fruity and very moreish, great beer!
