Location: Cask at the brewpub, 1/23/14
Aroma: The nose is malty and a fairly light, some nutty notes, caramel, and toffee
Appearance: It pours a clear brown color with a small tan head and not much lace
Flavor: The taste is along the same lines, with roasted , nutty, and somewhat sweet malt flavors
Palate: The body is light-medium, with a soft cask feel, somewhat thin, and with a short finish
Overall Impression: This was a solid, though kind of thin example of the style. It certainly isn’t a bad beer, but it just doesn’t quite get there.

Aroma: The aroma is sweet and tart, sour fruit, oak, and some vinegar
Appearance: It pours an amber color with a mid-sized beige head and average lace
Flavor: The taste is much the same, sour and a little sweet, oak notes, and an odd finish
Palate: The body is medium, it has an alright feel, and an average carbonation
Overall Impression: Thought this one was a pretty decent, though slightly flawed sour. Certainly worth trying.

Location: Draft at the Brewpub, 1/23/14, as King William Barley Wine
Aroma: The aroma has some light hops, fruit, caramel malts, and some booze
Appearance: It pours a clear orange color with a small white head and light lace
Flavor: The flavor is much the same, a little sweet, mild bitterness, plenty of booze
Palate: The body is medium, maybe a touch light, odd on the mouth, and kind of boozy
Overall Impression: Overall, I thought this was a pretty solid one. It is a touch on the boozy side, but it doesn't feel overwhelmed by the ABV. Interesting stuff.

Aroma: The nose is roasty and nutty, with some lactose and coffee as well
Appearance: It pours a dark brown color with a creamy tan colored head
Flavor: The flavor is much like the nose, quite roasty and nutty, lots of malty flavors
Palate: The body is medium, fairly creamy on the mouth, with a dry, roasty finish
Overall Impression: I thought this was a fairly solid stout. In the style, I found it one of the better offerings at Blue Star. Not too shabby...

Aroma: The aroma is light hops, a little citrus, with floral and caramel notes
Appearance: This beer pours a copper-orange color with a small head
Flavor: The taste is much the same with some light sweetness and light bitterness
Palate: The body is on the lighter side, with a clean finish on the mouth
Overall Impression: There isn't too much to say here. It is a fine APA, but nothing special. It is both on the simple side and on the light side.

Aroma: The aroma is light and malty, caramel and bready notes
Appearance: Pours a clear amber-orange color with a small off-white head
Flavor: The taste is light and malty as well, with very a mild hop presence
Palate: The body is light-medium, it is soft and simple on the mouth, but not watery
Overall Impression: I thought this was an okay but slightly dull lager. There's a little more here than the Texican, but it still isn't an exciting offering.

Palate: The body is light-medium, with an okay feel, but it is a touch off on the finish
Overall Impression: Overall, I just didn't find too much too love here. It's a simple and kind of dull EPA...

Aroma: The nose is light, some grains, malts, and a little corn
Appearance: Pours a light, golden color, with a small head and minimal lace
Flavor: The taste is light and malt/grainy, fairly on-style
Palate: The body is light, it drinks decently, and finishes clean enough
Overall Impression: There's certainly nothing wrong with this one, but it's just not all that exciting either. Good for the light lager drinking crowd to have something to drink at a brewpub I guess.

Aroma: The aroma is big on raspberry and sugary malts with some tart notes
Appearance: The pour is reddish-pink in color with a small beige head
Flavor: The flavor starts off very sweet, but there's some late tartness that balance it
Palate: The body is on the lighter side, leaning medium, with an average-plus carbonation
Overall Impression: I thought this was a pretty tasty one. It was very sweet up-front. It falls somewhere between a fruit beer and a sour. Bonus for being quite unique.
