16oz can pours with a clear amber to copper body that supports a near white head of foam. The aroma offers up some malt earthiness, some roasted malts and a bit of malt roasted dustiness. Behind those notes is a faint sort of fruity hops. The taste is similar and unremarkable with some roasted malts, some mild nuttiness and then some slightly off putting spiced apples fruity notes. Meh.

16oz can. Picked up a 4 pack of these at the brewpub where I was informed (and the help appeared genuinely proud of this) that this is their “Full Strength” IPA. Only in mormon country would any brewer feel compelled or feel proud to make such a claim. I have never heard of anything even remotely like this. Odd and silly at the same time. The can pours out with a clear deep gold body that supports a white head of foam. The modest aroma offers up some sharp citrusy hops followed by mild pine hops, a dash of soapiness and sweet to mildly roasty malts. The taste is pretty hoppy with bitter grapefruit and the malt sweetened tangerine flowing into a bit of pine and sweet maltiness. This is a nice IPA.

50cl swing top bottle (8.59% ABV) pours with a dark clear amber body that supports a tan head of foam. The modest aroma offers up sweet malts and then faint levels of musty brown sugar covered prunes and then some vague resiny hop notes. The taste is smooth sweet and then more and more resiny bitter hops. The more I drink I think the more I like. It has smooth sweet soft malts, a dash of prunes, raisins and booze and toward the finish a resiny hoppiness grows and grows and dominates at the end. This is pretty darn nice.

16oz can pours with a clear deep amber body that supports a tan head of foam. The aroma offers up sweet fruity ester notes like red apples mixing with a mild malt roastiness, faint caramel malts and then pears at the end of the draw. The taste has a moderate degree of roasted malts and some biscuit malts to go along with sweet lager yeast esteriness that’s a little apple and nectarine like. This is pretty nice except I wasn’t expecting any biscuit malts or roastiness and as such it seems out of place.

Location: Pint Can from State Line, 5/31/13

Aroma: The nose is quite fruity (orange/tangerine), with some butter, caramel, and pale malts
Appearance: A murky reddish-orange color with a small off-white head and coating, spotty lace
Flavor: The taste is one the sweeter side, a bit buttery, orange/tangerine, and mild bitterness
Palate: The body is light-medium, fairly smooth and creamy on the mouth, with a dry, tingly finish
Overall Impression: This felt like a good start to a beer, but a beer with too many flaws. I'll stop my review there rather than spending paragraphs beating a Dead Horse.
