Description
As a family-owned brewery, Candia Road Brewing Company’s mission is to brew a wide range of styles for all to enjoy. To gather friends - old and new. To treat all patrons like family, and to create lasting memories each day.
In 2011, CRBC opened as a homebrew shop and two-barrel system brewery. As the first nano license in New Hampshire we were pioneers of the local nano-brew movement. Under the brand name Nepenthe Ales, CRBC produced 22 ounce, bottle conditioned beer with distribution in NH craft beer shops, major supermarkets, and several restaurants.
In 2018, with a larger brewing capacity, the switch to 16 ounce cans was made as the local craft beer scene evolved, and the site was renovated with a new taproom with draught beers, pub food, and original music performers every Sunday.

Bottle. Light orange and wheat malt aroma. Cloudy light amber with giant head. Sweet orange/peach malt flavor. Strong alcohol finish. Okay but a bit boozy.

Paid $6.99 for a 22 oz. bottle @ Downtown Discount Beverage, Dover, NH. Snifter shows a murky, orange, tan color. Fluffy, thick head that held until the glass was empty. The aroma is all citrus fruit. Lemon, mango and grapefruit. I wish I have had an education on how to detect off-flavors. Because this brew for sure has some strangeness. It reminds me of drinking an herbal tea with a lemon squeezed into it. Notes of dried dead flowers. A touch of cardboard which confuses me because I know this beer is not old. The finish does have a slight lingering bitterness. I’m not sure I would call this a beer, it’s more like a medicinal hop tonic. I was able to finish the bottle and it wasn’t unpleasant just odd.

Bottle courtesy of AirForceHops. Earthy roasty chocolate malt and light mocha aroma, a little alcohol as it warms. Black with a large tan head, creamy lacing. Dark chocolate and ash flavor with a light bitter hop finish. Light body, moderate carbonation. Highly drinkable, very nice.

22 oz. bottle from the brewery. Color is deep brown with quickly falling, tan head. Light lace. Nose is nuts, adjunct malt and some sort of yeast. Perhaps lager yeast? But a aroma I can’t quite place. A lot of nutty flavor is present throughout the sip. Medium in body. Good moderate carbonation. ABV is only slightly noticeable in the finish. An easy drinking Brown Ale but what I’m a bit upset about is the price. I paid $8.99 at the brewery, guess I’m the sucker one this one.

22 oz. bottle from On the Vine, in Exeter, NH. Aroma was of piney and grapefruit hops with some pale malts. Taste of grapefruit/ citrus, malt and pine bitterness in the finish. The resin is a bit much for me as it warms but the redeeming quality is; it has large amounts of bready malt. Malt giving a nice medium body without being heavy. Overall this is a nice highly hopped APA.

Pours a fairly clear deep amber color with a huge off white head that shows great retention but only spotty lace. Smells of sweet caramel malt with a grassy earthy hop aroma. There’s a slight hit of licorice and a tinge of astringency in the nose as well. The flavor is sweet and malty like the nose promised. Grassy earthy hops try to provide some balance. There’s a bit of astringency in the flavor as well. Medium body with a moderate to spirited level of carbonation and a sweet almost syrupy mouthfeel. Talking to the brewer I discovered this is a wet hop ale and it smells and tastes like green vegetative matter. Certainly not the greatest beer they have put out, but kudos for the experimentation.

Pours a cloudy murky light golden color with a huge fluffy white head that shows moderate retention and lace. Smells of citrus, grapefruit, tropical fruit, mango, and a touch of pineapple. Very faint hint of bread attempts to provide some balance. Honestly this smells incredible! The flavor has more sweet and bready malt than the nose lead me to believe. There is a solid shot of fruity hop flavor midway through and a nice lingering hope bite in the finish. Medium body with a moderate level of carbonation and a slick bubbly resinous mouthfeel. She ain’t much to look at, but this is quite a solid DIPA.

22 oz. bottle from On the Vine. English pint shows an unfiltered Straw color liquid. Ample carbonation gives a fluffy, soapy white lasting head. Nose is underwhelming. I left it reach room temperature before I drank my second glass and still only shows light citrus notes. The flavor is a traditional IPA. Mixture of sweet malt and pine hops and a touch of honey. Bitterness is a pine or spruce. Body is medium with low Co2. Not bad but… after trying all of the other brews from Nepenthe Ales, this really is my least favorite.

22 oz. bottle from On the Vine. English pint shows a murky amber color with great retention and fluffy lacing sticky all the way down the side. Average carbonation. Big grapefruit nose with bready malt. Taste is nicely balanced with the sweet bread malt and fruity / herbal hops. A bit of a grainy flavor. The hops linger on your palate well after the sip. Finish is mostly a dry texture, yet the hops make me salivate. This is a finely made APA.

22 oz. bottle. Perfect hazy gold with amber hues. Lasting retention with great lacing. The nose is a delightful mix of wheat yeast, and for me a very hard to describable spice and fruit. Reminds me of green apple. The taste is spot on the aroma’s. And pleasant in every aspect. Medium in body with a active amount of carbonation that give a slight tickle on the tongue. Some short of bitterness shows up, not sure if it is from spice or hops. Wheat Ale or Belgian Wit hybrid, this is amazing. I will be buying more of this.
