Description

Keg at Six D N, Aberdeen. It pours cloudy bright orange with a small white head. The aroma is soft, juicy sweet, sour, big passion fruit vibes, dried mango, peachy, tangy, funky and floral vibes. The taste is crisp, dry, tart, puckering, nip of acidity earthy, funky, musty, passion fruit, dirty mouldy peach, earthy, tannin and earth with a drying finish. Medium body and fine, prickly carbonation. Works rather well. Nice fruit and funk.

Bottle at home. Hazy golden with fluffy white head. Tart wheat, passionfruit, light spices, bready, lemon, soft funk and oak, a bit of earthy smoke too. Medium sour, light sweet and bitter. Medium bodied. The passionfruit is quite light but adds a nice extra. Similar too the anniversary Cuvée.

Sampled alongside nr 8. Same vin jaune barrels, same pct alcohol, same best by date,... How is this different? Well, it starts of in the scent. Much more acetic acid here, whereas 8 has a much milder aroma. Taste is much intenser on the sourness. Harsh, and simply to sour for its own good. Acetic acid. Not sure if this is how it was ment to be. Throat burning acetic acid. This tasted more ( no offense intended) as one of those new money American wild ales that are just competing in a contest to be the most sour. Acceptions are luckely there, but usually that quality is all round in Belgium ( and even more so at de Leite) so I can't help feeling very let down by this one. I loved the 8 though, and still do.
Edit ; Turns out the label was misprinted. This one is NOT vin Jaune BA, hence the big difference with 8. Keeping original score and description, but thought it was worth clarifying .

Bottle at Capital. Dark brown hints of red, small creamy golden head. Aroma is not so strong, ovaltine, fruity dubbel, small roastiness. Taste is roasty, chocolate, brown sugar, fruity too, citrus plus something else too. Caramel, cookies, dough. Really nice. Lightly spiced. Nice and easy drinking, and lots of flavour for the %. Nice and smooth, with just a little spike from the bitterness.

Bottle at Capital. Dark red colour, with small thin pink bubbly head. Aroma is cherries and sourness, funk. Taste is great, initial cherry and gueze like sour smack in the face, then fades into lovely sour cream and chive that I seem to get from a lot of their beers. Further sips focus more on the cherry, and even finds some room for some unusual sweetness. Cream cheese. Quite a wild beer. Great stuff. Really changes from sip to sip.

Bottle at Capital. Light blond colour, small white bubbly head. Aroma is good, pleasantly sour, creamy, gherkins. Taste is good too, creaminess stands at the front, but is backed up by citrus, and sourness, white wine, pickles. Interesting. --- Beer merged from original tick of Cuvée Jeune Homme on 09 Sep 2019 at 16:05 - Score: Appearance - 6 | Aroma - 9 | Flavor - 9 | Texture - 6 | Overall - 9.
