I picked this up at Binny’s in Chicago, IL; enjoyed while my band was recording. Appearance kinda like a juice, very cloudy with a thin head. Aroma bready with a hint of honey. For taste can definitely taste the honey, can partly taste the almond, relatively crisp, better as you drink it. If it wasn’t for the 32 oz can I wouldn’t have gotten it, neutral on my purchase.

Can from a local discount grocery. Pours lemon gold with a foamy white head. Aromas of pale malt and mild citrus. Near medium body that turns watery as the foamy carbonation leaves. It’s actually very clean. Think water. Though there is a thin cider aspect. Get this one for when the in-laws come for bar-b-que!

Bottle from the Pizza Port Brewing bottle shop in Carlsbad, CA. Pours very dark cola with a few tan bubbles. Odors of vanilla and maybe bourbon as well. Medium plus body with creamish carbonation. Flavor is vanilla, chocolate, bourbon and sweet burnt malt. Tell me it’s from Scotland and I might believe it. It does seem a hint smokey. Finishes mildly sweet with some fair flavor complexity. Then it turns astringent? Might be the best beer from this brewer.

32 oz. can, $3.50 Binny’s. At nearly a full liter, it’s gotta be the biggest regular beer package in this country – though in Russia and elsewhere, you can get 2-liter bottles of really cheap stuff – and weren’t there Foster’s oil cans this size once? Beer dribbles when I try to pour. I get a slightly murky brown beer with a loose, spongy head. Smell has some amber malts in it, but also an elusive air of spoilage. Taste: Well, it is amber ale, but a bit thin and watery. Kind of meaty and grainy at the same time, if that makes any sense. I might actually try or stock up the other "Double Pints" cans, just for the novelty, as at least it’s an oversized can filled with something besides cheap malt liquor.

Bottle. Pours a slightly murky golden brown with a slight, white head. Nose holds some faint malts and caramel. Fairly sweet flavor, some caramel, slight roast. A little bit of artificial, syrupy flavor. Finishes lightly sweet with hints of bitterness. Overall pretty average.

Pour a amber from a frigging tall boy can. Aroma was next to nothing and the flavor had a slight maltyness to it. No hops to speak of. If your going to put your craft beer in a 24oz can you are already telling the world you beer is going to suck.

Pours black with dark tan head. Aromas of bourbon, vanilla, oak and roasted malts. Similar flavors, but the base beer is not that great. Medium to full body with moderate carbonation.

This beer is a dark brown color with a medium tan head that dissipates steadily. Rings of lacing on the glass. Aroma of dark malt, bourbon and cocoa. Medium body with flavors of raisins, malt and some hops. Bourbon is present too but it is subtle. The finish is malty with a dark fruit aftertaste. Brewers seem to just throw the word "bourbon" on just about anything these days. This beer is interesting in some ways, and while decent it is not necessarily something I would revisit. Kudos that this was actually drinkable considering it comes from the same brewer who provided the "12 Greatest Brews of the World" Wal-Mart variety pack that scarred me nearly 8 years ago.

12oz bottle. Opaque pitch black with a big beige head. Smoky, with lots of oak. Malt centered, very smooth and mellow for the ABV. Solid brown sugar flavor coupled with syrupy oak. No real hop character. Smooth caramel malt tones. Awesome beer, I’d love to have it again.

Bottle. Blackish beer with a light tan head. Light bourbon aroma with vanilla and chocolate. Chocolate flavor with bourbon and oak. Medium body. Chocolate and coconut lingers with bourbon and rich malt.
