One cup, canned Oct 2021, drunk 8/5/22.
Clear.
Hmmm....very first note is rubbing alcohol. So not a great start. Softens with some rice sweetness in to more of a glue-like character. Yeah, this just does not smell good.
Soft, super light, thinned out by alcohol. Drying alcohol as well. Some coconut, not getting much in the way of citrus. Sort of grows on me as it breathes, but this is pretty frickin thin/watery/boozy. And pretty minimal on the interesting/complex notes.

One cup can drunk 7/4/22.
Fruity, somewhat muted though, with light earth and soft mineral and a touch of roughness (alcohol, rice hull).
Soft, somewhat watery, again muted with cooked rice, alcohol and some borderline glue-like character. Obvious added alcohol here and it's not complex or interesting at all.

Bottle at Hachidori. Pours a hazy golden with medium white head that lasts. The aroma is strong earthy malt and citrus. Medium body, sweet malt, earth, light finish, decent.

Very clear, straw golden coloured body with a hint of white even at the bottom, all with a very thick, six to seven centimetre tall pure white head that stays afloat for a long time. Aroma of rice, light biscuity malts, some very subdued citrus fruits and a dry hay and grass-like scent - nice and very mild with some floral/chamomile notes as well. Ultra-light-bodied; Strong rice and lemon flavour at first with some grass, hay, flowers and grain noticeable, but the crisp malts are by far the strongest here and are ridiculously mild. Aftertaste finishes very lightly with a dash of key limes and more biscuity malts with a light herbal and grassy finish without much else here, except for an easy-drinking finish. Overall, a pretty soft and subtle beer with only a dash of biscuits and a dry finish from flowers and citrus fruits, but there really isn’t much here at all. I sampled this 33cL pull-top bottle, purchased from Tamura’s Wine & Spirits in Lahaina, Maui, Hawaii on 12-April-2022 for US$5,39 sampled in my hotel room here on the last day of my Spring Break trip on 17-April-2022 with my wife and three kids on Wailea, Maui, Hawaii on Easter Sunday.

Deep copper and lightly amber tinted body with a thick, four to five centimetre tall off-white head that fades pretty slowly. Aroma of light malts and a good deal of earthy, grainy sugars with some nuts here as well and only a sliver of very subdued hops and bitterness, in the nose, at least. Light-bodied; Crisp ricey and grainy malts show at first with a soft hop note with some earthiness and grainy flavours and only a touch of hops and bitterness right behind without any real sweetness here. Aftertaste shows the light toffee with some softer grainy elements, a slight dash of molasses and caramelised sugars with a hint of bitterness from the hops, but much less of those notes than from the grain. Overall, a pretty poor example of the style, but that was pretty much expected given my other experiences with the 'lucky' series (that were admittedly drunk in Japan, but still not great), but this was a bit worse off than those. I sampled this 33 cL bottle purchased from Tamura's Wine & Liqour in Lahaina, Maui, Hawaii on 12-April-2022 for US$4,39 sampled in my hotel room here in Wailea, Maui, Hawaii while on Spring Break with my wife and Kids on 12-April-2022.

Super deep, and very funky bright green coloured body with a darker funky green head that fades quickly and leaves a deep, funky pure green lace on the sides that isn’t like any beer, but of course, is sort of like a matcha tea - wierd. Aroma of tea, light grass, flowers, light grain and a bunch of fresh-cut grass, mixed with some herbal green tea, not too pleasant here. Light to Medium-bodied; Strong grassy and herbal notes show at first with a lot of green tea and herbal elements and a surprisingly nice hop bitterness from some. enjoyable hops here with a light dose of flowers towards the end. Aftertaste is dry and very grassy here without much else going on, aside from the bitterness and a bit of hay noticeable on the end, with the tea and grass the strongest of course. Overall, a pretty nice, surprisingly, given the colour and the scent, but the bitterness and grassiness is pretty nice, considering the options. I sampled this 33 cL bottle, purchased from Tamura’s Wine & Liqours in Lahaina, Maui, Hawaii on 12-April-2022 for US$5,39 sampled two days later in my hotel room here in Wailea, Maui, Hawaii on Spring Break with my wife and kids on 14-April-2022.

Red rust and some lime. Amber pour with decent head and lacing. Light bitter finish. Not a whole lot here but decent and easy drinking. Bottle at Jinya.
It's a tasty yuzu and wheat forward refreshing thang.

330ml Rip top bottle (as 'Kuromame Ale') at my daughters on 14th February 2022. Poured into an old 'Corsendonk stemmed tulip glass. Mini-haze to the bronze coloured body, off-white foam on top. Coffee esters for me in the nose, malt forward throughout, some leather and mild peat like notes as it warmed in the glass. I found this both pleasant and interesting, one of the better beers I've had from Japan so far (that's not many actually).
