Draught at the Yokohama GJBF 2012. Pinkish gold, like a rose champagne. Very nice raspberry nose, acidic, a little funky, dusty. Flavor is nice raspberry, something kind of wild but not completely. Decent. A good first stab at a fruit lambic. Quite impressive though not quite there.

Medium beige shiny head. Nearly opaque black body goes deep dark red at edges. Roasty milky burned aroma with coffee and flour notes. Very vivid and clear. Dryish milky coffee taste with roasty licorice notes. Mid-bodied. Mild, mealy mouthfeel. Dry roasty licorice aftertaste with mealy milky coffee notes. Faintly hoppy traces at end. Lovely session beer. (0.25l draft at Craft Beer Keg, Nagoya. Listed as "Atugi Stout." I assume it’s this one.)

Hand pump at Coopers. Grainy, grassy nose with some caramel and bread. Bland, mineral falvor, grainy, earthy. Not terrible, but not very interesting. A bland bitter.

Draught at the brewpub. Big estery aroma, banana and clove, grains, cake. Deep gold to amber color with a tall, fine head. Sour edge in the mouth, grainy, bready, with banana. A bit cloying and heavy—very sweet. Ok, but not one of Japan’s best weizens.

Draught at the brewpub. Orange-brown color, clear with golden tints and a high, fine head. Looks nice. Crisp, fruity aroma of shiso, maybe some ume as well. Tangy. Big shiso flavor with sweet caramel malts. Fruity, with orange. Super smooth and silky. Pleasant and original—a bit strange, but well done. Nice brown ale base is just a bit too sweet.

Draught at Grande Biere 2010, Tokyo. Light amber color. Biscuit, chocolate and spice aroma. Spicy taste. Not much of the kind of rich malt flavor you expect in a double. Thin and spicy, more like a light Belgian amber. Doesn’t do it for me.

Clear golden with a white head. Nice pine and citrus aroma. Flavor has a strong citrus and pine note. Also has a nice sweet maltiness. Very dry finish. A nice IIPA. (This beer was made exclusively for Thrash Zone, Yokohama)
