Tap at August Beer Club. Pale blond, slightly cloudy, white creamy head. Aroma is grainy, flour, not so strong. Taste similarly grainy, touch of cream, touch of bitterness. Very easy to drink. Crisp and decent enough if a little uninspiring.

Backlog from 2014. Draft at GJBF. Fruit forward nose with some light grass and caramel malt. Some light piney bitterness on the palate with more sweetness. Some orange zest. Sweetish finish with a hint of bitterness. Not that great.

August White 5.5% Is a witbier contract brewed at Gotemba Kogen by the beer bars August Beer Club up in Tokyo. Pouring a light gold with a fizzy white head the aroma is bready wheat, tangy fruit and mild coriander. Medium to light bodied with an aggressively zesty carbonation. The taste is dry wheat crackers, orange peel and coriander. Decent but really middle of the road as far as witbiers go.

Cask @ Moon Under Water, Manchester. A caramel-amber colour with a glow. Has a frothy head. This is a very malty brew with a potent nose in this respect, with a more dry, herbal aftertaste that lingers.

Tap at iBrew. Pale golden, cloudy, with lacde. Flavors of apple and wheat. Bready malts, nice tart apples. Well done, fresh and not too sweet.

Hell würziger Antrunk mit blumigen Hopfennoten. Wenig bitter und ebenfalls nur leicht herb, hopfig bleibend, rund und süffig. Gut! 9/10/10/10/7/11

7% brewed at Gotemba Kogen, bottle. Bought at a fancy looking new supermarket Yaoichi near Sanjo. Served in a plastic cup & drunk at Shinpuhkan. A fruity light pine hop aroma with a touch of grainy malts. Very fruity, kind of grape like nose. Lots of carbonation but a relatively soft mouthfeel & a palate cleansing finish. The taste isn’t as fruity as the nose, mostly bitter pine, a dash of fruit and then some earthiness. Average but alright.

Appearance: Hazy golden colour with a small white head.
Aroma: Citrus, hops, pine.
Body: Medium body and carbonation.

Bottle picked up at the Tokyo Station Daimaru for about 400 yen. Simply labelled August Beer Dark, brewed at Gotemba Kogen I believe, 5.5% I figure this must be the Maduro Dark or a Variant of it... Served in a fluted pilsner glass. A nice looking clear dark reddish amber color with a thick beige head. A rich malty aroma gives some caramel breadiness. The body is quite light, almost watery. The taste is grains, graham cracker, a bit bready with caramel in the finish. Sounds like this one is similar to shoulderbroken’s nice enough, no real off-flavors or problems to it but nothing really outstanding either... there may be two different August Dark’s I guess. This one is a good solid malty light beer.

Bottled. Hazy amber, small head. Salty piney grapefruit aroma. Mid sweet, medium body, rounded mouthfeel. Lightly caramelly, mint, pear and grapefruit. Mid bitter finish.
